I'm proud to share that I’ve renewed my commitment through People and Planet First, a global community of businesses dedicated to putting impact before profit - and proving it with action.

This isn’t just a badge.
It’s a public declaration that Mighty Epiphyte is in it for the long haul:

- Prioritizing equity, climate justice, and care in every decision.
- Practicing what I guide clients to do: transparency, improvement, accountability.
- Staying aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and benefit-first business practices.

This movement helps solopreneurs and small businesses show what integrity in business looks like - and offers visibility for those choosing better ways to work.

I'm honored to share that I’ve been recertified with Benefit Corporations for Good - a community committed to equity, sustainability, and doing business differently. Grateful to Tom Herring and the BCFG team for creating a space where impact matters.

This year’s score is solid - and I celebrate that.

But a few areas dipped slightly from last year. That might surprise some, but for me, it’s a sign of real progress.

Why?
Because I believe in asking: What is good enough?
And then: How can I do better?

True impact work means ongoing reflection, deep listening, and the courage to notice where we can reduce harm, become less extractive, and move toward reciprocity - not in silos, but in connection. With people. With planet. With purpose.

This isn’t a checklist. It’s a practice.

Onward. Always.

As Kwanzaa begins, we honor this celebration of culture, community, and purpose.

Each of the seven principles - Umoja (Unity), Kujichagulia (Self-Determination), Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility), Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics), Nia (Purpose), Kuumba (Creativity), and Imani (Faith) - reminds us of the strength we share when we uplift and support one another.

At Mighty Epiphyte, these values resonate deeply as we strive to foster equity-centered practices and build a world where every business makes a meaningful impact.

To all who celebrate, may this Kwanzaa be filled with reflection, connection, and joy!

Today is International Human Rights Day

As business leaders, entrepreneurs, and changemakers, we hold a powerful responsibility: to uphold and champion human rights in every decision we make.

From fair wages to equitable governance, from creating safe workplaces to building communities where dignity and respect are non-negotiable... our choices ripple far beyond the walls of our organizations.

At Mighty Epiphyte, we believe business can be a force for good by embedding equity-centered, anti-oppressive practices into everyday operations.

This aligns with the spirit of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - notably, SDG 5: Gender Equality, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.

What can we do today?

1. Conduct a human rights audit of your supply chain and operations.
2. Commit to creating policies that actively dismantle systems of oppression.
3. Advocate for inclusive practices that amplify the voices of marginalized groups.

Small steps lead to lasting change.

Together, let’s ensure that the principles of human rights guide our businesses and inspire our impact... one decision, and one impact at a time.

On International Volunteer Day, we celebrate the power of people who give their time, energy, and skills to create meaningful change in the world.

Volunteers are the heart of communities, driving forward solutions to social, environmental, and economic challenges.

Volunteering is about more than giving back... it’s about building connections, fostering equity, and creating impacts that ripple far beyond what we see.

Whether you’re planting trees, mentoring youth, or using your skills to support equity-centered causes, your contributions matter.

Together, we can build a future where every action creates a better tomorrow. 💚

Artists Sunday is a celebration of creativity, connection, and commerce with heart.

Held the Sunday after Thanksgiving, this movement champions artists and makers as essential small businesses - and invites us to support them with the same energy we give to Black Friday and Small Business Saturday.

We believe:
– Art is not a luxury; it’s a language of impact.
– Artists are not hobbiests - they are economic drivers, culture keepers, and visionaries.
– Investing in art is investing in community, resilience, and storytelling.

Whether it’s a painter working in reclaimed materials, a jewelry maker weaving cultural heritage into their designs, or a writer illuminating justice through poetry - artists expand our vision of what’s possible.

This Artists Sunday, consider how your spending reflects your values:
– Choose handmade over mass-produced
– Commission work from local or underrepresented artists
– Share, uplift, and credit artists whose work moves you
– Support creators who use their platform for climate, equity, or social change

Small businesses aren’t only brick-and-mortar… they’re also found at craft fairs, co-ops, community markets, and Etsy shops. Let’s include artists in our definitions of entrepreneurship and sustainability.

To all the artists weaving beauty, truth, and hope into the world…
You are seen.
You are essential.
You are valued.
💚
