So beautiful!
Yes, a medicine path is challenging.
But the hardest part is that it’s asking you to be totally yourself.
It’s constantly asking you, “are you totally resolved? Are you living in joy? Or are you living in an old story?”
Many people don’t want to let go of their stories or conditioning, because they literally don’t know how, or don’t understand how they have value and safety outside of those stories.
The largest conditioning that we’ve been through for centuries is colonization and manifest destiny.
The challenge that my students face, and that I face as a teacher, is how to live IN this world but not be OF the dominant structures.
It’s not about leaving your job and living off the grid, necessarily.
Societies will rise and fall, and you can choose to thrive, or to deny your truth.
The path to freedom is hard because when yo’ve been living enslaved for lifetimes, you don’t even know what being free is like, you can’t even imagine it, so you don’t even know what it’s like to be resolved, and complete, and have joy to the degree that it’s possible, even in the face of suffering, of upheaval, and the unique challenges of this time.
CHOOSING to live here and now.
Not escaping out of having a physical, human experience.
This is the earth we have. This is the lifetime you were born into, FOR A REASON.
It is not about “creating a new earth.”
It’s about being the bridge between old ways of wisdom and knowing, and an emergent, collaborative, peaceful coexistence that MUST be different from the old ways, but also MUST be different from the dominant paradigm of consumption, extraction, exploitation, and disconnection, if humans want to survive.
You have reached the end of the line with escapist ideologies.
Being totally yourself is an act of great curiosity and courage, in a world that needs us to step up to the plate.
Step up, step in.
