For World Asthma Day, asthma experts are sharing their unique clinical perspective on the treatment of asthma.
Allergists, pediatricians and other clinicians with a Vivacare Patient Education Toolkit are publishing their own “Tips & Wisdom” on asthma medications, asthma management and new approaches to asthma care.
William Berger, MD FAAAAI FACAAI who serves as Medical Director of Allergy & Asthma Network shares his professional perspective on several asthma topics including the need to treat asthma in a step-wise approach based on the person’s asthma severity. “Asthma is classified in four levels. These asthma severity levels provide the basis for stepwise management of the disease. The primary goal of the stepwise approach is to get your asthma to the lowest classification possible.”
Los Angles allergist Dr. Alan Khadavi provides his perspective on new therapeutics for the treatment of asthma, including Biologics and JAK Inhibitors. “Janus kinase inhibitors for asthma should be clinically useful for multiple types of asthma. An unmet need is for patients with severe asthma whose disease is poorly controlled despite using high dose inhaled steroids and it would be less expensive that biologics. Because JAK inhibitors have a completely different mechanism of action, they may be particularly effective in individuals with asthma resistant to steroids.”
Denver allergist Dr. Francine Andrews provides her Tips on creating a work and home environment that is free of allergens and thus reducing the risk of asthma attacks.
Vivacare invites its physicians to use the Vivacare platform to share their expertise and help them patients to better manage their care.
