At our upcoming performance of Friday Night Music, we are delighted to welcome the OCP Quartet for a variety of classical music. Formed by members of the Oregon Chamber Players, the group consists of Rebecca Towers, flute; Victoria Racz, oboe/English horn; Bev Gibson, viola; and Collin Heade, cello.

At our upcoming Saturday Forum, Olivia Buehl, Artworks Committee Chair, will update us on how they acquire art and distribute it throughout the campus. Sheldon Hurst and Judy McNally will showcase 23 artworks chosen by committee Members with corresponding Member comments. The Terwilliger Plaza Social Accountability Committee has a long history of supporting the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization (IRCO), providing donations to help seniors and refugees in need. This holiday season, we carried on our cherished tradition of assembling holiday stockings filled with essentials and treats—alongside our Life Enrichment team, assisted living Members, and students from St. Mary’s Academy.

Building on this tradition, our Committee sought to make an even greater impact by delivering donation bags directly to seniors at Africa House. We are grateful for the opportunity to support IRCO’s mission and look forward to future initiatives that bring joy and enrichment to the lives of seniors and refugees throughout the year.

La Musica String Quartet will share classical music and some holiday songs at our upcoming performance of Friday Night Music. The quartet has been together for 25 years, and features performers from the Beaverton Symphony Orchestra.

For our upcoming Saturday Breakfast Forum, we look forward to welcoming Brian Landoe. Brian is Portland's Urban Forestry Strategy and Planning Manager. He recently led the creation and adoption of the City Council of Portland's new Urban Forestry Plan, which set new vision, goals, and targets for the preservation, growth, and expansion of Portland's tree canopy.

At our upcoming performance of Friday Night Music, PSU Opera students will perform scenes from their current production, The Eleanors. Under the direction of Kelley Nassief, the Marilyn Crilley Professor of Opera at Portland State University, students will tell the tale of three young women during World War II.

Dr. Julia Hwakyu Lee’s piano students will perform classical and holiday music at this week's performance of Friday Night Music. Born in Korea and now based in Portland, Dr. Lee is head of the Piano Department at Portland State University and an assistant professor. She also teaches in private practice.

Founded in 2010, the Portland-based Oregon Mandolin Orchestra has successfully revived the tradition of community-based mandolin ensembles that were wildly popular across North America during the early 20th century. Today, the nonprofit orchestra boasts nearly 25 members who play first mandolin, second mandolin, mandola, mandocello, and mandobass. The OMO is one of just 50 orchestras recognized by the Classical Mandolin Society of America.

This special concert is scheduled for Thursday, November 13, from 4 - 5 pm in the Parkview Auditorium. Co-sponsored with the Diversity Awareness Committee, Friday Night Music presents the BRAVO Youth Orchestra Ambassador Quartet. BRAVO is a highly esteemed non-profit organization that connects diverse students in Northern Portland with world-class music education. BRAVO’s High School Ambassadors is a mentorship program that gives young adults the opportunity to share their musical talents in the classroom with their younger peers and perform within the community.

Pete & Paul Barkett, twin brothers from Stockton CA, have been performing together since the early 1970s with Pete on piano, Paul on guitar, and both singing. They've performed in restaurant lounges, college concerts, charitable organizations, and many other venues over the last twenty years. Now, both retired, they continue to provide their audiences with a wide range of popular songs from the sixties to the present.

We wrap up this month’s Friday Night Music with the Kerry Politzer Quartet, led by Portland-based jazz pianist, composer, and educator Kerry Politzer. A faculty member at Portland State University, Kerry has also taught at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Swing University and beyond. Join us for an evening of dynamic jazz, full of originality and spirit.
