September is National Recovery Month! Join me in a Fundraiser class for - they provide scholarships for yoga to support long term sobriety for those suffering from Substance Use Disorder. I will lead an Ashtanga sequence and Pranayama (breathwork ) combo class suitable for all levels . In person at or join us via Zoom. Pre- register today - minimum donation is $5 . Come help us change the stigma . We do recover .

NEW CLASS

Have you experienced the joy of Ashtanga? Monthly Led Half Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga. It will be part flow with some workshopping of postures and drills sprinkled in for for some joyous movement and spontaneity.

This Saturday, March 11th 10 AM.
This offering is by donation through Yoga Punx PDX or included for members of Burning Spirits Yoga .

Answering a call from Higher Self ..to create offerings that dismantle the current perception the more is better, advanced postures make you somehow more deserving.

To divest from this mindset that you must act, look, and be —a certain way , to be an Ashtangi, with no room for joyful exploration and expression.

These questions of props or no props…why is that even a thing? Blocks and props do not block the way to enlightenment…to your divine connection.

Lastly, giving ourselves permission to move with breath, to find a refuge in each breath. That is where the growth is…not a so called struggle pose .

Does this resonate ? A calling to you and for you . A deep knowing, whisper of ‘yes’.

We are calling you in -those who what to create the paradigm shift. Some spots left for folks wanting to be a part of all of this …folks with whom I can share all of this and more.

LIMPIA--what happens during our session?

Limpia (Spiritual and Energetic Cleansing Rite).
A Limpia is a Latin American cleansing ritual that help to cleanse or balance the mind, body, spirit and environment.

Our time together will begin with a fire limpia of the space. Then we will engage in plática (a heart-straightening talk) -confidentially discussing what weighs heavily on your heart, body, spirit- in order to begin the purge. Working together, from there, to begin your journey to wholeness.
Your journey may include breath work, guided meditation, devotional chanting, calling in the sacred sprits and winds we will work with, light asana, plant cleansing/sweeps and/or a velación (fire limpia with candles).
Through ancestral guidance, I will make you a personal plant remedio (medicine). Remedios, made by me with prayer and devotion, may include one or more of spray, liniment, salt scrub, or anointing oil. The plant guides used in my medicines are often grown by me, or they are sourced from other Indigenous healers.

I offer various services- Limpias for healings and blessings, soul retrieval, plant medicine , and I also offers shorter sessions by donation.....you can learn more or book at sandeelawlessyoga.com My March books are open and have a few sessions lefts.

This way of being intentional with my energy, my life force…

My mind has been opened and my heart is singing. Giving myself grace to do less, that the work I do is INTENTIONAL and in integrity. Being taught by Decolonial & spiritual🦅] that this is is my as a healer and as a guide to do so—so that when I hold space, I am connected to higher vision.

SLOW DOWN
My mind says no….
My heart sings, yes, PLEASE!

My minds says not possible…
My body screams, but you must.

My mind tells me I am wrong,
And my Spirit whispers, no child, this the way…

the way of the r3v0lution.

My deep love for this practice is undeniable ....it has changed my life. We have added it to the Yoga Punx Calendar on Thursdays..both morning and evening.(which means it is by donation!) The evening class is a beginner-focused although anyone is welcome to any class at any time....as we all start at the beginning. I am happy to co-teach alternative Thursday evenings with my friend Nicolas George.

Why Ashtanga?

If you are looking for a practice that is adapted for your specific needs, this may be the practice for you. This method is taught one posture at a time, and the guide will teach them to you in the most accessible and therapeutic way. We like to call it your own special posture—the approach is just for you!

We normalize props and strive to create a brave space for refuge- time for a paradigm shift.

THIS and THIS ALSO

Often, in my experience, there is either or thinking about Ashtanga Yoga. We are flooded with pictures of advanced asana (postures) and given messages that if our bodies can’t make that shape, or can’t take a bind , or our circumstance doesn’t allow our body to do it as it “is supposed” to be look—we are to stop there…sometimes we have guides and teachers who tell us not to use props, walls, chairs or other support. Personally, I don’t buy into that nonsense…..perhaps I am ‘doing it wrong’. In my experience, anyone can practice —according to the current season of their life. These seasons change with age, responsibilities , injury….and also anyone can practice according to what their body needs….it isn’t one size fits all.

Come see how Ashtanga can be fire, water, rest, action ….explore all the opposing forces and meet yourself where you are in this very moment.

Touching toes and handstands are not pre-requisites.

ASHTANGA APPRENTICESHIP - we begin again.

My Guides are calling. They are saying “RISE UP! - share your heart love, speak your truth, spread the knowledge.
Serve, guide and share this practice in ways that dismantle ableist approaches and CO-CREATE brave spaces.
Disrupt power dynamics. It is time for a change. Shed the notion that ‘advanced’ postures mean advanced practitioner.
That use of props, chairs, walls are somehow a barrier in connecting to the Divine-to our true nature. If we use blocks we are somehow undeserving…or we are the exception, the other, - the thought that ‘blocks create BLOCKS’ or other such nonsense.

Have you been questioning too?

I am honored to share this with you-it has been created with guidance, passion, vision, heart and a full on LOVE AFFAIR with this method, and how it can be accessible and brave.
