Food insecurity is directly tied to reproductive health and justice.

Roughly 750,000 Oregonians are going to be losing SNAP benefits Nov. 1, including 210,000 children and families. Groups are on the ground doing real work to feed and meet the needs of community, and they need support more than ever.

Like CASC, EGC relies on small donations from individuals and monthly ongoing support is vital! Peer to peer support like this is not only critical to a strong and ongoing model of community care, but it challenges and disrupts our reliance on the same state that exacerbates these needs.

CASC will be matching up to a total of $5000 for any new monthly subscriptions through the end of October. We invite you to join us in supporting EGC, especially our more resourced white community. Every dollar counts and there is no donation too small!

Additionally, many corporations offer matching donations by their employees. If you are employed, please consider asking your employer to match your donation and make this contribution go even farther! Find the match form at equitablegivingcircle.org when you donate.

We are disappointed to disclose that we have chosen to end our relationship with Fire on The Mountain, one of our restaurant partners, after they held a fundraiser for Jewish National Fund, a Zionist organization which not only funds and benefits from the Israeli occupation and ongoing apartheid of Palestine, but also has used intimidation and violence to suppress dissenting protestors in the US. We have also learned from a trusted source that Fire on The Mountain penalized employees who expressed their dissent and desire not to work on the day of the fundraiser.
We reached out to FOTM to ask them to reconsider this fundraiser, and they did not respond.
Palestinian liberation is reproductive justice. Workers rights are reproductive justice. Always, but especially this week as the Israeli govt has again invaded the Palestinian city of Jenin, we stand in solidarity with our Palestinian siblings and firmly against the Israeli occupation.

Thank you, sweet people, for all of your support 🧡 Please be sure to share our info with anyone you know who might be looking for someone to talk to about their abortion, help with getting to and from their appointments, (or other logistical support) or needs emergency contraception or pregnancy tests. We are here, first and foremost, to offer care to our community members needing support around abortion and their other reproductive health choices. Please help us prioritize them by reserving our phone line for callers seeking support. All our passionate pro-abortion people looking to volunteer or connect otherwise: PLEASE use our contact form on our website or send us an email. You may not hear from us right away (remember we are all volunteers ourselves 🥹) but we are SO grateful for this community showing up for us. In the meantime: be sure the people in your life know you will show up for them and affirm their reproductive decisions. One of the (many!) ways we fight this is by continually building relationships and communities where we get our needs met together, and feel safe and supported 🧡

💫volunteer opportunity💫 We are holding our yearly volunteer training this July. This training is for a practical support role providing rides and meals to folks seeking abortions in the Portland area. This is not an abortion doula training but some emotional support skills are covered. The training is virtual, taking place on Sunday July 11th and Sunday July 18th from 6pm-8pm each day. You will need to attend both days to complete the full 4 hour training to volunteer with CASC. Hello Friends, Followers, and Comrades,
As many of you may have heard, one of Portland’s beloved abortion clinics, Lovejoy Surgicenter, closed in January. Thankfully, a new abortion clinic is scheduled to fill that gap in access and is likely to open this coming March. We feel fortunate to already be building a relationship with this new clinic.

Until these doors open, we want to hear from you! Imagine anything is possible!—What do you envision for this new abortion clinic? What makes you feel safe when you go to a clinic? What does that abortion care look and feel like?
