Our Small Group Private Training program has had an incredible run of growth these past few years, so much so that it now deserves direct, intentional oversight to keep elevating the experience for our members.

We’re excited (honestly, pumped) to announce that Coach Anna is stepping into our newest leadership role as Head of Small Group Private Training.

Anna has had a massive hand in the success of SGPT, her coaching, organization, attention to detail, and care for our athletes are a big part of why the program is what it is today. This new role brings even more structure, communication, and momentum to a program that continues to thrive.

Saturday we wrapped up our 4th or 5th annual in-house competition (who’s really counting at this point?). As photos start popping up across social media, SugarWOD, and your inbox this week, I want you to notice something: not the discomfort, not the sweat, but the smiles.

That’s why we pour so much effort into this event every year.

A huge thank you to Coaches James and Jonathan for the set-up help and organization.

An even bigger shoutout to Coach Ty, who not only programmed the perfect workouts and kept us on schedule, but planned the entire event- in a spreadsheet of course, keeping us on time.

And a special thank you to Coach Anna for helping with scoring and logistics so we could get winner information out quickly and smoothly.

We also loved seeing several members from our Small Group Private Training crew jump in this year.

Sneak peek: we’re already working behind the scenes on an event for mid-2026 that will bring both groups together for a massive, super fun in-house comp.

Thank you to everyone who came out, had fun, and maybe ate a burger (or three). And please, make sure you thank the coaching team when you see them. They put in a ton of effort to make this day amazing.

Next up: Our Annual Holiday Party, December 6th.

Wanna move like Coach Ty?

Step 1: get those strict pull-ups locked in.

One of the most common goals we hear in goal reviews, casual chats, and No Sweat Intros is:
👉 “I want to get my first pull-up.”

The hard part isn’t wanting one, it’s staying consistent with the habits that actually get you there.

So, as we do… we built a 9-week program that focuses on strength, grip, volume, and positioning — all in quick 10–15-minute sessions you can do before or after class.

Stick with it, stay consistent, and by Christmas… you might just unwrap your first pull-up.

Woodslawn Competition is this Saturday

It’s finally here!

Athlete briefing starts sharp at 8:15 AM that doesn’t mean roll up at 8:15; that means quiet coyote ears on and ready to listen at 8:15.

PDX Coffee will once again be fueling us with amazing coffee, and Coach Dan will be grilling up a storm right after the competition. Our goal is to be eating by noon!

Don’t forget to sign up for your comp T-shirt on the day of the event.
Spectators are always welcome, both for the competition and for the food afterward!

Please consider carpooling, biking, or walking to help conserve parking spots.

This week we’re starting two new training blocks, both built to make you stronger!

Olympic Lifting with Coach Chase
Wednesdays @ 5:15 PM
6 weeks • 3 complexes • focused accessory + skill work.
Goal: heavier, smoother, stronger lifts.

Winter Sports Prep with Coach Ty
Tues/Thurs @ 6:30 PM
Get your legs and core ready for ski season, build endurance, balance, and strength that’ll keep you on the mountain longer (and upright).

We even made a Glute + Core Accessory PDF for after class, home, or travel.
Just… don’t download it and think “cool” and never open it again.
That’s how you don’t get stronger.

Don't leave KB's like this.

Do make sure you eat something, anything, after your workouts.

Should you try and get as much of your protein, fiber and hydration from simple sources. Yup!
Do you sometimes need a little extra to help with doing so with a busy day or tough workout?
Also yup!

We get it, sometimes you need something quick. Its why we carry a few supplements to help you out. And when it comes to supplements, we keep it simple.

Around here, we only recommend three things:
👉 Protein — because most adults are still eating toddler servings of protein.
👉 Creatine — the most researched, most effective supplement on the planet.
👉 Hydration — because coffee doesn’t count (no matter how much you wish it did).

And then… add in some fiber.
Shoot for 25–30 grams a day from real food (oats, berries, beans, veggies). Get that right and you’ve got the foundation for recovery, energy, and long-term health dialed in.

The brands we carry are either NSF or third party tested which means unlike a lot of the warehouse or 1 click to buy brands what’s on the label is exactly what’s in the product: no banned substances, no filler junk.

Plus, we make it easy to grab whatever you want, write your name down and get on with your busy day knowing the supplement we carry are of the highest quality

You know those gyms where your membership includes unlimited access… to equipment you have no idea how to use?

Yeah, we aren't that gym!

At Woodslawn, we’re coaching-centric. Every person who walks in starts with a personalized introduction (our On-Ramp), not just a "welcome and good luck.”

Our coaches spend hours each week working one-on-one, in small groups, and in our CrossFit classes, designing deliberate programs that meet you where you’re at and move you forward safely.

Plus, we’re really good at working with beginners.
