Practice setting your boundaries

Overdoing it can lead to your undoing. Make it clear, “despite what it seems like, I can't.”

Trauma-Informed Insight Series:
Dysregulation in the Classroom

Not every reaction is a choice.
Sometimes… it’s survival.

When students lash out, shut down, avoid, or people-please—
they may be dysregulated, not defiant.

Survival responses show up as:
Fight → aggression
Flight → avoidance
Freeze → shutdown
Fawn → people-pleasing

These aren’t behaviors to punish—they’re signals to understand.

ohhh boy do I relate. Yes, when I understood the C in PTSD, I had to address it. It was Complex - and it would touch every part of my life. complex until I understood the many ways it colored my view of myself and the world.

Healing became a lifestyle practice - one day at a time. And the key was slowing down, learning how to slow down, knowing when I needed help, and having a community of support with a safe place to practice new skills as a first-time learner on levels others took for granted.

If you feel stuck or not sure where to turn, let me know.

CPTSD is an equal opportunity life ruiner.

That's why I believe CPTSD recovery has to go beyond therapy. It's not something we can heal in neat 55 minute once a week sessions.

CPTSD recovery has to be a whole life project.

It has to give us a framework and tools that will realistically help us manage and reduce its impact on every domain of our life— not just our mental health.

This review from Shemaiah says it all, and it touches on something I feel strongly about.

Yes, you can learn TRE (Trauma Releasing Exercises) from a YouTube video. And that has value. But there is so much nuance that comes from learning human-to-human.

Our nervous systems learn to self-regulate through co-regulation, being in the presence of a safe, grounded person. Not just once, but across a few repeated sessions. That repetition is where the real shift happens.

Most people need between 3–6 sessions to feel truly comfortable with the neurogenic tremors. Some need a little more support, others less. There's no one-size-fits-all, and that's exactly why having someone with you matters.

What Shemaiah describes, feeling safe, supported, and more connected in daily life, that's what becomes possible when the nervous system finally gets to exhale.

Curious about TRE? Send me a message, and we can talk about whether it's a good fit for you.

Interested in fascia release?

After discovering Fasca release during covid there was no going back. My go-to is Block Therapy.

After experiencing the changes in my body and nervous system, and I kept telling others about it, I decided to get certified to bring this method to my clients. Many of them have also experienced pain relief and deeper nervous system regulation than before.

What I like about Block therapy is its whole-body approach to fascia release.

Unlike foam rolling or massage, which are generally faster, superficial, and sometimes forceful, Block Therapy works slowly to reduce chronic pain and improve alignment without causing tissue damage

Focus on the Root Cause: Instead of just treating the area of pain, Block Therapy addresses the body's structure to correct posture and improve cellular oxygenation.

If you are curious to explore at home on your own time, I will include a link below, or you can book a session with me, either in person in Iceland or online. Yes, I can get you started without the blocks.

Were you sexually abused as a child? Are you stuck as an adult? I know how that feels. You’ve read all the right books, tried everything you can think of, and the same negative things keep happening again and again in your life and relationships. It’s a depressing hamster wheel, and you can’t figure out how to stop it. Ugh! I can help. I went through all of that on my own journey and finally found my way out. I can help you escape this depressing cycle, too. That’s why I offer private coaching for those stuck in this frustrating place. Some just need an hour, and they can move forward again. Others need more. Some need group coaching. Everyone is different. I help people all over the world using Skype or Zoom, or over the phone. I charge $125.00 per hour for Abuse Survivor Coaching. Email svava@educate4change.com to set up an appointment. You can also book on my calendar using the link HERE! If you need someone safe, someone who knows exactly how you feel and won’t judge, contact me. We can talk about it. You’ll feel much better. You really will.

Other Services: All services are provided using the internet (Skype or Zoom) or telephone.
