I am often asked about the differences between yoga, meditation, physical movement, and the neurogenic tremors in TRE.
**Isn’t this just yoga, meditation, or jumping to release stress?**
Not exactly.
Jumping → you move on purpose to burn off stress.
Yoga → you stretch and strengthen to reduce tension.
Meditation → you calm the mind to settle the system.
Neurogenic tremors → your body shakes "involuntarily" to release stored tension.
The difference?
With jumping, yoga, and meditation, you’re doing something.
With neurogenic tremors, your nervous system is doing something.
It’s a built-in biological release mechanism.
When the body feels safe, it lets go.
All are helpful. They just work in different ways.
You can’t “try harder” to make neurogenic tremors happen. They happen when the nervous system feels safe enough to release.
That’s very different from stretching, breathing, or jumping it out.
Made with some help from AI.

"The imprint of trauma occurs in the brain stem, not in the cortex. We need a treatment that addresses the primitive part of the brain as well as the cognitive parts. " - Bessel van der Kolk
It is about allowing the body to complete a natural reflex that was interrupted.
When someone experiences stress or threat, the muscles contract, the breathing changes, the psoas and hip flexors tighten, and the body prepares to run or fight.
If and when the threat resolves safely, the body naturally discharges the energy. Animals shake. Humans are wired to do the same, but we suppress it.
Nerugenic tremors are not random shaking, it is a reflexive discharge pattern generated by the brainstem.
Stress patterns are stored throughout the fascia.
The tremor response is controlled below conscious thought.
It involves:
-the limbic system
-brainstem motor pattern
-primitive survival circuits
It simply allows a bottom-up reset.
Voluntary shaking is something we choose and control. Like bouncing a leg. Neurogenic tremors are involuntary reflexes generated by the primitive survival circuit in the brain stem.
Big difference!
We can allow them or stop them, but don't consciously create their rhythm or pattern.
Your body already has this innate wisdom. Once learned, you can use it every day for the rest of your life.
A few minutes at the end of the day or after a stressful event can help you reset. You feel calmer and more grounded.
You build resilience and capacity to handle life's challenges.
It takes about 3-6 sessions with a provider to get a good understanding of the neurogenic tremors and how best to work with your nervous system. Everyone is different, and getting guidance in the beginning can make a big difference.

TRE:
✔️ Þvingar ekki fram tilfinningar
✔️ Krefst ekki frásagna
✔️ Leyfir líkamanum að losa spennuna
Nokkrar mínútur geta hjálpað þér að losa spennu, finna meiri ró og byggja upp seiglu.
3–6 tímar með leiðbeinanda lærirðu að nýta þessa meðfæddu getu líkamans – verkfæri sem þú getur notað alla ævi.

How do neurogenic tremors help you to release stress?
It is about allowing the body to complete a natural reflex that was interrupted.

Nerugenic tremors are not random shaking, it is a reflexive discharge pattern generated by the brainstem.
Stress patterns are stored accross the fascia lines.
The tremor response is controlled below conscious thought.
It involves:
-the limbic system
-brainstem motor pattern
-primitive survival circuits
TRE does not:
-Force catharsis
-Push emotional processing
-Require storytelling
It simply allows a bottom-up reset.
Voluntary shaking is something I choose and control. Like bouncing my leg. Neurogenic tremors are involuntary reflexes generated by the primitive survival circuit in the brain stem.

Through neurogenic tremors, we reconnect with the Self, releasing the armor, the protection, for more presence, more capacity, more flow, more trust, more authenticity.
Not always easy, or pain-free, but part of the capacity building. Grounded and embodied, trusting the process.

Were you sexually abused as a child? Are you stuck as an adult? I know how that feels. You’ve read all the right books, tried everything you can think of, and the same negative things keep happening again and again in your life and relationships. It’s a depressing hamster wheel, and you can’t figure out how to stop it. Ugh!
I can help. I went through all of that on my own journey and finally found my way out. I can help you escape this depressing cycle, too.
That’s why I offer private coaching for those stuck in this frustrating place. Some just need an hour, and they can move forward again. Others need more. Some need group coaching. Everyone is different. I help people all over the world using Skype or Zoom, or over the phone.
I charge $125.00 per hour for Abuse Survivor Coaching. Email svava@educate4change.com to set up an appointment. You can also book on my calendar using the link HERE!
If you need someone safe, someone who knows exactly how you feel and won’t judge, contact me. We can talk about it. You’ll feel much better. You really will.
