EASA The Early Assessment Support Alliance (EASA) is a community of young people who have experienced psy You might start to act very differently than normal.

Psychosis is sometimes described as a loss of contact with reality. It can include seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling, or feeling things that aren't there (hallucinations) and having extreme beliefs that don't seem to make sense (delusions). The way you talk may be very confusing to others. It may be very difficult to concentrate, and you may feel overwhelmed by your senses. You may even have a hard time telling what's real from what's not. Having these experiences doesn't mean that you've done something wrong or that you're "crazy". They can be caused by many things, like not having enough sleep or going through a lot of stress. If they're not scaring you, stopping you from doing what you love, or causing you harm, then they can be normal. But when they're changing your life and making you feel out of control, they could be symptoms of psychosis. Then it's time to get help. The Early Assessment and Support Alliance (EASA) is a community dedicated to recognizing the symptoms of psychosis and supporting the young people (ages 12-25) who have experienced it. Our services are free to those who qualify. We offer fast and easy access to psychiatric and counseling services, education, support groups, employment services, volunteering opportunities, fun events, and many other ways to get involved! EASA has locations and services in most counties in Oregon. To find the location nearest to you, please visit our official site!

It is with great appreciation and sadness we share that our colleague Dr. Ryan Melton has moved on to be Associate Dean of Counseling Psychology at Bushnell University. He has a great love of teaching and special fondness for preparing Licensed Professional Counselors, and in this important leadership role he will continue to help train the next generation of clinicians and college students. We wish him well!!

Some of our staff (Tamara Sale and Ryan Melton) and member of the Young Adult Leadership Council were some of the authors of this article, which was recently published in the Progress in Community Health Partnerships journal from John Hopkins. A huge achievement and very exciting to be able to share our EASA Connections Project.

As we continue experiencing this pandemic, and enter the often stressful holiday times, it can be important to know that you're not alone in your feelings. It can be helpful to put a name and gauge how we're feeling, and this image and this concept can be helpful in that.
It also reminds us that many, many people are experiancing the same feelings as we are.
If you or someone you know are struggling, and think that you may be showing signs of psychosis, you can take a screener and get referred for care in the state of Oregon here:https://portlandstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_033kbbJOtKgG3DT

Are you thriving or just surviving? The COVID pandemic has created a concurrent crisis around mental health. We all need to be taking care of each other, but that includes ourselves. This is especially true for healthcare workers. This site from the Colorado Healthcare Ethics Resource Group offers information and resources to help address the anxiety and stress that can, if left unaddressed, deteriorate into crisis. https://cohcwcovidsupport.org/
