Planned Parenthood Maine Action Fund The Planned Parenthood Maine Action Fund educates and advocates to protect and advance sexual health We are a 501(c)(4), not-for-profit organization.

We engage in educational and non-electoral activity including legislative advocacy, voter education and grassroots organizing to ensure that Mainers have access to comprehensive reproductive and complementary health care services in settings which preserve and protect the essential privacy and rights of the individual. Through our PAC, we engage in electoral activities including endorsement and campaign support for candidates running for state office who support Planned Parenthood Maine Action Fund’s mission, and who believe that politicians should not be involved in a woman’s personal medical decisions about her pregnancy. Transgender people, particularly trans-Women of Color, face disproportionate violence and discrimination. Honoring these victims is not only about remembrance but also about building a world where all transgender people can live authentically and safely.

While we were (justifiably!) celebrating our wins at the Maine ballot box this week, Senate Republicans - including Maine's Sen. Susan Collins - approved Maine lawyer Joshua Dunlap to the Boston-based U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

As we noted earlier this fall alongside partner organizations like , and , Dunlap is a Trump-appointed conservative litigator who has publicly discussed his opposition to abortion and same-sex marriage, and who, as a lawyer, has worked on cases challenging Maine's laws on paid family leave and ranked choice voting. He's consistently sided with corporations over people. He's a bad choice for a federal judgeship, and his values do not reflect those of the majority of Mainers.

To borrow a phrase from our senior senator, we are concerned - and deeply disappointed. Tell Sen. Collins you are too. Her contact info is in the comments.

Mainers have spoken. We voted resoundingly to ensure every Maine citizen can continue to access their right to vote.

Our campaign manager said it best: “This campaign was about standing up for the thousands of Mainers who rely on absentee voting: Our veterans, disabled neighbors, working parents, seniors and countless others. This victory is for them and the thousands of people who knocked on doors, talked to their friends and neighbors, and worked so hard to protect Maine’s elections.”
