The Lobe Report She didn't ask for this pulmonary plot twist, but here we are. Prayers and puns welcomed!

Please follow this page for updates on Joan as she goes through surgery today and the months ahead while she works to "Make Her Lungs Great Again".

Joan had her follow-up this week and found out NO CHEMOOOO!!! This is such great news. This is not the end, she has three month follow ups for a year and will need another preventive/discovery surgery in the near future. I am so proud of Joan for how strong, vulnerable, and resilient she has been through this tremendously scary process. Keep those prayers coming, there’s still a road to recovery! I’m grateful to call her my other half and can’t imagine not being able to annoy her on a daily basis.

Hey, everyone! Joan is recovering like a champ and has a follow-up tomorrow. We finally have the full pathology report back. The tumor removed lung was a leiomyosarcoma, grade 2. This is a rare soft tissue sarcoma and was malignant.

The most important news is that the surgeons got the entire tumor out with clean margins, and both lymph nodes tested were completely negative. There was no spread, no “lymphovascular invasion”, and the tumor was small (2.3 cm) and fully contained. Her team of doctors will meet to determine next steps. Keep the ju ju coming. ❤️

This syndrome is exhausting and at the same time I’m grateful that preventive screening continues to save our lives. Keep Joan in your thoughts as she navigates what’s next.

"Don't underestimate the value of sitting quietly with someone when they're in pain. ... Sometimes, the most powerful thing you can offer isn't advice—it's your presence. That's it. Just being there." - Nate Postlethwait

Thanks to everyone who has and continues to be present for Joan through messages, visits, flowers, and snacks. She is dealing with some pain but got to wash her hair today! ❤️❤️❤️

She’s home thanks to knight in shining armor, Kevin. He’s been a champ through this, everyone give him some love because you know how he loves being the center of attention.

From Kevin this morning: Doctor just came in and said everything looks good. He said in about an hour he will take tube out and start getting her ready to send home.

It is not lost on me that we are surrounded by the most amazing group of family and friends that are like family. Thank you so much for being here to support Joan and our family. 135 people just here and many more off social media. We are truly blessed. The power of loving and being loved. ❤️

Apologies on the delay in updates! She is doing well but there is a leak around the drain incision (she’s leaking!) which is very common. She is not coming home today but we’re hoping for tomorrow! She’s in a lot of pain and is having intense muscle spasms but is still smiling. Seeing her in pain makes me want to run through a wall but we’re built for this s**t! Love you all!

We got to see her for a while tonight- she’s hilarious and sassy but also in a lot of pain. Once she can ditch the drain tube she can come home.

01/10/2026

She’s being moved to her recovery room and we should be able to see her soon.

The surgeon came out and gave very good news: he was able to remove the mass with clear margins. He didn’t have to remove the whole lobe and feels that it did not look like lung cancer, however said the pathology will be the final determinant and it could potentially be metastatic from her breast cancer occurrence. That should be available in 7-10 days.

People- this is the power of prayer and angels mobilized and energy sent. Please keep all the above coming for boring results and no metastasis.

She’s in and the surgery will take 5-6 hours. Look for an update later this evening. Keep up with the positive mojo!
