Edmarc Unlike adult hospice, where life-saving treatment ceases and the end is certain, Edmarc offers hope. The minister's name was Edward; the boy's name was Marcus.

Established in 1978, Edmarc was the first hospice in the nation designed specifically for children. Edmarc is the only pediatric hospice organization in Hampton Roads. Edmarc was founded by the members of Suffolk Presbyterian Church in Suffolk, Virginia, along with their minister who was dying of cancer, and a young couple whose only son was dying of a progressive neuromuscular disease. The agency is named in their memory. In 1982, Edmarc Hospice for Children received a $300,000 grant from the Birthday Offering of the Presbyterian Women. This generous community gift funded the development and expansion of our hospice, home health care, and bereavement support services. Edmarc now serves a wide geographic area that includes the Virginia Peninsula and all of southside Hampton Roads.

🦃Just in time for the holidays…

❄️Next week, Edmarc will see an influx of frozen turkeys and hams for our Thanksgiving food basket deliveries, and we’ll need all the freezer space we can get. Thanks to East Coast Appliance donating a new upright freezer to the cause, we’ll have plenty of space to safely store the festive goodies.

And all the gratitude to Blake and Brian for putting in the sweat equity to get this beauty in the building. You’re for sure on Santa’s nice list this year. 🎅🏼

"Buying time is giving us hope." - Declan's dad

Declan, a tiny, mighty superhero, is battling rhabdomyosarcoma - and he has his own team of Edmarc avengers by his side, ensuring he and his parents have every tactical advantage possible...from the seamless care between doctors, nurses, and social workers to in-home visits preventing hospital stays, this crew has his back fighting "the bad guy".

For Declan's parents, this means the world because he IS their world. Declan is who they don their capes and fight for every day. They find hope in knowing their little Iron Man is able to maximize everyday, running around like he lives in a comic book, defeating the supervillains, because he has Edmarc on his side.

Learn more about Declan and how Edmarc teams up with families on all different journeys with a singular mission in mind: to ease the trauma of a child's illness or death, and to reduce the disabling effects of pediatric illness, loss and bereavement on families.

💜Introducing Marcus’s Legacy – Stories of Hope and Inspiration

💛It all began with a need—a need in our community that could no longer go unanswered. At the heart of it was a young couple and their only son, Marcus, born with a rare genetic disorder. Their journey sparked something extraordinary…the beginning of Edmarc .

🩷This powerful new video, beautifully crafted by Consociate Media, weaves a tapestry of love, courage, and inspiration. It tells a story of how one child’s life inspired a movement of compassion that continues to grow. We are honored to share Marcus’ Legacy this November through National Hospice & Palliative Care Month. Join us as we unveil this powerful new video that honors Marcus’ life and the ripple effect of heart, courage, and care that continues to touch countless families.

💙At Edmarc, families never receive a bill for our services. Because of Marcus, and because of you, we are able to provide care, comfort, and hope when needed most.

❤️We invite you to watch, share, and be part of Marcus’ legacy.

💚Thank you, Consociate Media, for putting your heart and soul into this video, for so beautifully telling our story, and for being part of the hope that Marcus inspired.

Edmarc’s Fall Fest was OUT OF THIS WORLD!

Kids and families enjoyed a spacey good time Woman's Club of Portsmouth playing games, snacking on candy, and dancing the night away.

Thanks to Peter Decker Children's Charity for sponsoring this event, the YVC Hampton Roads for volunteering, and the Knights Templar for honoring kiddos with Medals of Courage.

🌊Who knew witches rode waves?

👻Last Saturday, Owl Creek saw an influx of pointy hats and brooms as the Coastal Virginia Paddlers set out on their 2nd Annual Witches and Warlocks Paddle. In the spirit of treating and not tricking, they turned this fun into a fundraiser, collecting over $1,600 for Edmarc!

👏Shoutout to Joni Cormier, Chris Murphy, Breann Killman, and Leslie Basset for organizing this event and Debbie Lou at Ocean Eddies Seafood Restaurant for coming on board as a sponsor and donating proceeds of paddlers' meals to Edmarc.

Fall Fest was OUT OF THIS WORLD! 🪐

🛸 Last week Woman's Club of Portsmouth, Edmarc families gathered for a galactic good time. They enjoyed an alien dance party, starry photo shoot, astronomically fun games, and a spaceship’s worth of candy.

👽 We’re so grateful to Peter Decker Children's Charity for sponsoring this year’s event. Also, shoutout the the Knights Templar for honoring our kiddos with Medals of Courage and The East Coast Alliance of Cosplayers for allowing Captain America and Black Widow to make a special appearance.

Join us at the Woman's Club of Portsmouth for a memorable evening honoring children in our community who have passed. We need extra hands to assist with set-up, serving, and clean-up.

Grazie! 👏

❤️ Our hearts (and bellies) are full after a special luncheon held for the wonderful souls who made Edmarc’s expansion into the Williamsburg area possible. Giuseppes Italian Restaurant welcomed the Edmarc family into their home and provided a bountiful meal to express our gratefulness. Edmarc has been caring for kids and their families in the Hampton Roads area since 1978, and now, because of the generosity of faithful supporters, we are able to extend these services to even more families.

🦋 We also unveiled our new video, “Marcus’ Legacy: Stories of Hope and Inspiration”, highlighting multiple families’ stories and the ways Edmarc has made an impact on them. We cannot express how thankful we are to Consociate Media for turning this pro bono request into a passion project they put their entire hearts into.

💜 We extend our deepest and heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us yesterday and to everyone who has joined Edmarc along the journey of hope. The vital in-home care, bereavement programs, and volunteer support we provide would NEVER be possible without a passionate and compassionate community behind us. It means the world to us and…more importantly…to the Edmarc families.

Thank you. 🥰
