Edmarc Unlike adult hospice, where life-saving treatment ceases and the end is certain, Edmarc offers hope. The minister's name was Edward; the boy's name was Marcus.

Established in 1978, Edmarc was the first hospice in the nation designed specifically for children. Edmarc is the only pediatric hospice organization in Hampton Roads. Edmarc was founded by the members of Suffolk Presbyterian Church in Suffolk, Virginia, along with their minister who was dying of cancer, and a young couple whose only son was dying of a progressive neuromuscular disease. The agency

is named in their memory. In 1982, Edmarc Hospice for Children received a $300,000 grant from the Birthday Offering of the Presbyterian Women. This generous community gift funded the development and expansion of our hospice, home health care, and bereavement support services. Edmarc now serves a wide geographic area that includes the Virginia Peninsula and all of southside Hampton Roads.

What a SUPER evening! Last night , Edmarc volunteers were celebrated for all their heroic contributions. This assembly of do-gooders enjoyed friendship and camaraderie followed by a delicious meal provided by along with an awards ceremony.

Edmarc could simply not provide high-level support without these every day heroes. We’re so thankful for each of them and the heart-work they give to our families and staff.

This past weekend, our Edmarc team had the honor of attending a memorial poker run in Gloucester to honor Keegan, who died on 4/1/25. It was a meaningful day spent alongside a community that shows up in powerful ways to remember, honor, and support Keegan’s family as they navigate his loss.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, $1,240 was raised to support Edmarc’s mission. We’re also incredibly grateful to .grill for donating 10% of their Saturday evening sales to our organization.

Moments like these are a powerful reminder of how strong and compassionate this community truly is.

We are so grateful to have the compassion and medical expertise of our phenomenal chief medical director Dr. Pegram and assistant medical directors Dr. Heydarian and Dr. Mark leading Edmarc’s clinical care. Guided by their heart and passion for their patients, they ensure Edmarc kids receive the quality care they deserve. They understand not only the complexities of the unique illnesses many of our kids present, but also that these children thrive when cared for surrounded by the familiarities and comfort of their family and home.

Thank you Linda, Cyrus, and Melissa, for all you do for Edmarc patients, families, and staff. Your leadership is incomparable, and the love you hold for all those you care for is priceless.
