The ‘Non-Smokers Bowl’ has become a powerful visual in the office, serving as a reminder of the success my clients have had. Every two weeks, the bowl is refreshed as old cigarette packs and vapes are cleared out to make space for new ones. Each time I see it, I’m reminded of how empowering it is to help people take back control of their health and lives by quitting smoking. I truly love this work.

We spend a significant portion of our day in a naturally occurring hypnotic state, often referred to as “trance.” It’s estimated that we are in this state for about 60-70% of the day.

This can happen when we’re deeply focused, daydreaming, driving on autopilot, or engaged in repetitive tasks, like scrolling through our phones or watching TV. These moments are characterized by heightened suggestibility, where our conscious mind takes a back seat and the subconscious mind becomes more dominant.

This is why habits, suggestions, and affirmations can have such a profound impact when we are in these states—they bypass our critical thinking. Hypnotherapy leverages this natural state to access the subconscious mind intentionally and make positive changes.
