Snow starting this morning will create slick and hazardous travel conditions across central and eastern Virginia. If you must be on the roads, please keep these quick safety tips in mind:

❄️ Use your headlights to stay visible.
❄️ Clear all snow off your vehicle before driving.
❄️ Slow down and adjust for slick spots.
❄️ Don’t tailgate—you’ll need extra stopping distance.

❄️ Carry essentials like a scraper, blanket, water, snacks, and a phone charger.

Virginia State Police is also encouraging drivers to pay attention to messaging from the Virginia Department of Transportation and check road conditions at **511.vdot.virginia.gov** before heading out. Be aware that VDOT trucks will be working to clear the roads, and please give them plenty of space to do their jobs safely.

**Stay alert, drive cautiously, and avoid travel when possible.**
