Visiting Nurse Home & Hospice Visiting Nurse Home & Hospice provides community/health services so that people may stay in their homes safely and comfortably throughout their lives.

Visiting Nurse Home & Hospice is a not-for-profit, independent home health care and hospice agency. Founded in 1950, Visiting Nurse Home & Hospice has grown from a small grassroots homecare agency to a regional homecare organization employing over 200 people. Headquartered in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, we also have a branch office in North Kingstown as well as a supply station in Swansea, Massachusetts. We provide home care nursing, hospice & palliative care, rehabilitation, maternal child health, social work, and community clinics to over 700 patients daily and take pride in living our mission of providing optimal health and quality of life for individuals across Rhode Island and in Southeastern Massachusetts. 75 years ago today, at Newport’s Vernon House, our agency began our non-profit home health mission to care for all who needed us. In a ceremony yesterday, Newport Mayor, Charlie Holder has declared November 15th, “Visiting Nurse Home & Hospice Day”. On this day, we celebrate our founders and all the dedicated staff and leaders who came after them.
