Level One Snow Emergency Upgraded to Level Two (TE)

Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman has upgraded the Level 1 Snow Emergency to a Level 2 Snow Emergency. A Level 2 Snow emergency remains in effect for Scioto County. A Level 2 Snow Emergency means roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be very icy. Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the roads. Contact your employer to see if you should report to work. Motorists should use extreme caution.

Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman has issued a Level 1 Snow Emergency for Scioto County. A Level 1 Snow Emergency means roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be icy. Motorists are urged to drive very cautiously.

A warming shelter will be open Saturday night, December 13, 2025, and Sunday night, December 14, 2025, at ASCEND Counseling and Recovery Services, 729 6th Street, Portsmouth, OH. Doors open from 9 PM – 7 AM.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNIT TO 10 AM TODAY...

WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TOMORROW MORNING THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING...

For the Winter Weather Advisory, snow is expected with total snow accumulations between 1 and 3 inches. For the Winter Storm Watch, heavy snow possible with total snow accumulations between 3 and 6 inches possible.

Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions will impact this morning’s commute.

Persons should consider altering their travel plans. If you do plan to travel in hazardous winter conditions, consider taking a winter storm kit along with you, including items such as tire chains, booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing. Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help you survive in case you become stranded.

Slow down and use caution while traveling.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for our area:

Windy conditions are expected today, with gusts of 35-45 mph
possible.

Snow showers are expected this afternoon into tonight. Slick road conditions will be possible with falling temperatures especially this evening into tonight.

A system will bring accumulating snow to the region tomorrow night into Friday. This will have the potential to impact the Friday morning commute.

Another system will bring additional accumulating snow Saturday into Saturday night with the greatest potential for accumulating snow late in the day Saturday and into Saturday night.

Very cold air will filter into the region this upcoming weekend. Wind chill values near or below zero will be possible in areas Saturday, Sunday, and Monday morning.
