Seek Your Serenity Counseling Center, LLC Seek Your Serenity Counseling Center, LLC is here to help you move towards finding your own serenity Welcome to Seek Your Serenity Counseling Center, LLC.

Serenity means "The state of being calm, peaceful, and untroubled". While it can be difficult to achieve these days, my main goal in working with you is to identify what your definition of Serenity is, so that we can work together to achieve your goals. Seeking counseling can be anxiety-provoking, and even scary. I have utilized counseling to gain insight, and I know that while it may seem difficult, I know that becoming stronger in mind, body, and spirit is worth it to ourselves, and to those we love. If you are thinking about how to put yourself first, shake off some insecurity, and improve you life, you have come to the right place. I see clients individually, as a couple, family, or group, and tailor our work together to suit your desires. I take pride on serving many different types of clients, including, but not limited to women, teens, members of the LGBTQ population, survivors of trauma, and those seeking healing from a variety of stressors. I look forward to hearing from you, and am committed to helping you achieve Serenity. Telehealth available!

Thank you, Lizzo, for speaking up! 📢

American singer and songwriter Lizzo voiced her words of support for transgender women while speaking to Them at a GQ Men of the Year red carpet event on 13 November.

“The best thing you can be in this world is yourself, and no matter what you have to do, or who the f*ck you have to ignore, or what boundary you have to break through to be yourself, do it. It’s worth it baby on the other side, I love you” the Grammy winner said.

Today is World AIDS Day, a day, unfortunately, that we still commemorate because we are still losing folks to HIV/AIDS. Go get tested! It’s quick, (almost) painless (finger stick), and helps to stop the spread. Treatment is available, and Pep/PRep is also a great way to protect yourself! Don’t look away, get tested, urge folks you know to get tested.

For the global HIV response, it’s been the toughest year in decades. Heartbreakingly, it feels as though the world is looking away again.

Every minute, someone dies of AIDS-related causes. This is happening right now. On our watch.

It’s not because we lack the tools. Long-acting PrEP could stop new cases. The science is remarkable. Lives could be changed today.

What’s missing is the attention and political will to end this. We’ve seen compassion move mountains before, and we believe it can again.

This , we’re asking you: Don’t look away.

Can you believe it?! Six years ago, He She Ze and We became an official 501c3 nonprofit! What started as a small support group for parents with trans children has blossomed into a thriving organization that supports parents and family members, trans youth, trans adults, and allies all across Virginia.

Unfortunately this day was celebrated yesterday, but for survivors, they know that grief is felt everyday. For those who have felt this pain, you are not alone. Please look for SOS groups near you or online. www.afsp.org has more info!

Today is International Survivors of Su***de Loss Day. This loss is a grief that sinks deep. If you are feeling this grief, please know you’re not alone.

Isolating, lonely, confusing, and frustrating are just a few words we hear frequently from su***de loss survivors as they navigate life after their loved one’s passing. But we also hear stories of community, connection, and legacies carried forward with hope—because no matter how alone you feel, there really are people who understand where you’re at and what you’re going through.

You can always find stories from other survivors on our blog at twloha.com/blog/topics/su***de-loss, including these:

“It’s been seventeen years, and my brother would have turned fifty this year, but the numbers don’t seem to matter much because grief doesn’t abide by the passage of time.” – Measuring Grief by Wendelyn Reed

“We cannot live as survivors without non-judgmental support. Accepting assistance was life-saving—it affirmed that we are all connected and we need not struggle, grieve, or heal alone.” – Su***de Loss: The First Year After by Jane Reiter

“I’ve spent a lot of time trying to reconcile with the label of being a su***de loss survivor. Although it is an accurate representation of who I am now and what I’ve experienced, there is so much more to the story than what the label conveys.” – More Than a Label by Sophie Elliott

Please don’t carry this all by yourself. We know how heavy it can be. Reach out for help.

TW: death and su***de

Today is the day, every year, that we stop to remember trans and gender-expansive folks lost to violence, at others’ hands, and the unnamed folks who died at their own. We need allies to ally, to speak up against these injustices, and ensure that our trans siblings are taken care of. Community care, mutual aid, inclusive practices, gender-affirming care, etc are the ways we show up.

I am honored to work with so many of these folks, and will be a panelist at our local TDOR tonight. Light a candle, and remember those lost.

November 20th is Transgender Day of Remembrance, where we acknowledge and honor the trans, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming lives cut short by anti-trans violence. With the rise of anti-trans laws, attacks on health care, and hate crimes, the fight for their futures and their rights is urgent.

Trans and nonbinary people deserve more than equality – they deserve safety, dignity, joy, and more than anything, they deserve to grow old.

TRUTH.

This is Trans Awareness Week — a great time to listen to trans people’s experiences, support them, amplify their voices, and educate the people around you on how to be inclusive.

Sometimes the biggest actions of solidarity come in the quietest and most ordinary moments.

Awareness is great, but showing up, speaking up and taking action is better.

Do you love to read like I do? Here are some books published this year that are by trans authors or showcase trans voices! I have read Milo Todd’s “The Lilac People” and it was BRILLIANT! I’m reading “Marsha: The Joy and Defiance of Marsha P. Johnson” by Tourmaline right now. Add a few of these to your wish lists for the holidays!

And purchase from Bookshop (dot) org! You can choose your favorite independent bookseller to receive a commission from your purchase! Mine go towards Eleanor’s Norfolk (your local intersectional feminist bookstore) and they get shipped directly to you or the giftee!
