Seek Your Serenity Counseling Center, LLC Seek Your Serenity Counseling Center, LLC is here to help you move towards finding your own serenity Welcome to Seek Your Serenity Counseling Center, LLC.

Serenity means "The state of being calm, peaceful, and untroubled". While it can be difficult to achieve these days, my main goal in working with you is to identify what your definition of Serenity is, so that we can work together to achieve your goals. Seeking counseling can be anxiety-provoking, and even scary. I have utilized counseling to gain insight, and I know that while it may seem difficult, I know that becoming stronger in mind, body, and spirit is worth it to ourselves, and to those we love. If you are thinking about how to put yourself first, shake off some insecurity, and improve you life, you have come to the right place. I see clients individually, as a couple, family, or group, and tailor our work together to suit your desires. I take pride on serving many different types of clients, including, but not limited to women, teens, members of the LGBTQ population, survivors of trauma, and those seeking healing from a variety of stressors. I look forward to hearing from you, and am committed to helping you achieve Serenity. Telehealth available!

I am always in awe of those who fought bravely for our country, and those who were discharged because of whom they loved or for their own identity. A person’s capabilities or readiness to serve has nothing to do with who they are, how they identify, or who they love. I am saddened for those, now and throughout history, who have been discharged for these reasons. I honor you, LGBTQIA+ Veterans of the US Armed Forces. May we continue to share your stories! 🇺🇸 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️

It doesn’t have to be this way. Hate doesn’t solve anything.

If you’d like to join the Hampton Roads’ Trans Day of Remembrance, please go follow Transgender Assistance Program of Virginia - TAP VA, LGBT Life Center, and come out on 11/20!

Please take a moment to remember the 31 transgender and gender non-conforming people lost to violence so far this year.

Celebrating all the parents who are also trans and fabulous today!! Thank you for all the hard work you do!!

Transgender Parent Day is a special day celebrated annually to honour and recognise transgender parents and parents of transgender children. This day is opposed to the more traditional Mothers’ or Fathers’ Days.

Transgender Parent Day is celebrated annually on the first Sunday of November. The month of November is chosen because it is Transgender Awareness Month, and also the month that includes Transgender Day of Remembrance.

Transgender Parent Day is especially important for transgender parents who may feel isolated or invisible in their communities. It’s a reminder that they are supported, appreciated, and accepted for who they are. It’s an opportunity to create a community of support and understanding for transgender parents and their loved ones.

Transgender Parent Day was first established in 2009, to celebrate and recognise transgender parents and parents of transgender children.

For those folks who have Intersex conditions (yes, born that way), we celebrate the many different conditions, seen and unseen, that are to be celebrated. We also hope for greater reform in the pediatric realm, where surgery is not carried out until both parents AND the person with the condition can understand the implications of surgery, AND if that’s something they want.

Intersex Awareness Day is a day to celebrate visibility and highlight the issues facing intersex people worldwide. The day marks the anniversary of the first public demonstration by intersex people in the United States in 1996.

Art should reflect all members of a society. And guess what? Trans people are members of all societies - many may not be out, but I’m grateful that Sherald stood on her principles and said that her art shouldn’t be censored. All people, including BIPOC and trans people, deserve to see themselves reflected in art, culture, and celebrated! Amy Sherald is doing this!!

In an interview with Anderson Cooper on CBS’ “60 Minutes”, painter Amy Sherald spoke about her decision to pull out of her solo exhibition at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery after the museum considered removing her painting of a Black transgender Statue of Liberty, titled Trans Forming Liberty.

“There were conversations about the work being censored,” Sherald told Cooper. “The show is ‘American Sublime.’ It was a whole narrative, and a trans woman is a part of that narrative, for me.”

Saddened to see Miss Major Griffin-Gracy had passed on to another realm. Her legacy endures for so many trans folks across the nation and world. Rest in Power, Miss Major!

It is abusive, lacks empirical evidence of actual “change”, and no credible professional associations recommend its use. How about we follow Carl Rogers (the counseling theory pioneer, not the also-awesome Fred Rogers) and meet people where they are, helping them accept themselves, love themselves, and BE themselves. Because another horrific option that unfortunately people do take is to leave this world. There are people who love you that you’ve never met, and people who are cheering you on that don’t know your name (the name you WANT to be called).

Torturing a straight kid until they turn gay would be called abuse.

So why is it different when it’s LGBTQ+ youth who are tortured in an effort to make them straight???

Conversion therapy is torture!

AND it doesn't work.

Based on extensive research by medical and human rights organizations, conversion therapy is widely considered a harmful and torturous practice. There is a global consensus that these practices are ineffective and cause severe psychological and physical damage, leading to lasting trauma.

Leading medical and mental health organizations across the globe have condemned and discredited conversion therapy for decades.

And yet, it is still practiced in more than 20 U.S. states and appears that the Supreme Court may be poised to rule that states cannot ban it.
