Consistency is powerful. ⭐

A token economy gives children clear expectations and immediate reinforcement, helping them stay motivated and proud of their progress.

From introducing the task → to earning tokens → to receiving a meaningful reward, every step builds confidence, independence, and positive routines.

Great for home and therapy settings! 💛

This week, we’re highlighting the fourth function of behavior: Sensory (also called Automatic).

Some behaviors happen because they feel good, help the body regulate, or give the child important sensory input. These behaviors can occur any time — even when a child is alone — because the sensation itself is rewarding.

Understanding the sensory function helps us support children with autism by providing safe, appropriate ways for them to meet their sensory needs while teaching meaningful replacement skills.

Swipe to learn:
✨ What the Sensory function means
✨ When it typically happens
✨ Common sensory-seeking examples
✨ Support strategies that help meet sensory needs in a regulated, supportive way

Behavior is communication. When we understand why a behavior is happening, we can respond with compassion, not punishment. 💙

Choice-making is a key part of high-quality ABA therapy.

It increases motivation, reduces challenging behavior, and strengthens communication.

Offering simple choices like “Play-Doh or puzzles?” gives kids power in their learning. 💬✨

This week we’re highlighting the third function of behavior: TANGIBLE.

Some behaviors happen because a child wants access to something specific — a toy, a snack, an activity, or even the iPad. When that item is unavailable or taken away, the behavior may increase because it has worked in the past to get the child what they want.

Understanding the tangible function helps us teach children more appropriate, effective ways to ask for what they need.

In this post, you’ll see:
• What “tangible” behavior means
• When it commonly happens
• Examples you might notice
• Support strategies to help your child communicate their wants in a clearer and calmer way

As always, behavior is communication — and when we know why it’s happening, we can support our kids in healthier and more successful ways. 💛

Transitions don’t have to be stressful ❤️

One of the simplest ABA strategies to support smoother routines is priming, giving kids a heads-up before something changes.

A little warning goes a long way.

When children know what’s coming, they feel safer, calmer, and more prepared.
And calm kids = calmer transitions for everyone.

Today’s ABA Basics Series breaks down:
⏱ what priming is
⏱ how to give time warnings
⏱ why two reminders work better than one
⏱ simple tips you can try right away

Try a 5-minute warning today and see the difference 🌱✨

PAIRING 101 💛

Before teaching any new skills, we focus on building a strong connection. Pairing helps our RBTs become a source of comfort, fun, and positive reinforcement for each child.

When children feel safe, understood, and excited to engage, learning comes naturally. 🌈

Pairing helps with:
✨ Increasing motivation
✨ Reducing challenging behaviors
✨ Building trust and rapport
✨ Making transitions smoother

Connection always comes first. 💛

Giving kids simple choices can completely transform cooperation 💛

When a child feels involved in the process, they feel more in control, and that leads to smoother transitions, calmer moments, and more independence.

In today’s ABA Basics Series, we’re highlighting “Providing Choices” as an easy, powerful strategy you can start using right away:

💡 Offer 2–3 choices (not too many!)
💡 Keep all choices appropriate
💡 Stay calm + clear
💡 Follow through once they choose
💡 Remember: choices support expectations, they don’t replace them

Try offering two small choices today and watch confidence + cooperation grow 🌱
