At the end of February, Schuylkill Center hosted a "Take Flight Fun" Activity for the residents.
They showcased videos of flying over the Grand Canyon while participants crafted their own airplanes. They made gliders, jets, darts, bugs, and various other inventive paper airplane designs.
Everyone had the opportunity to launch their planes through the air, across the states, and through a hoop!
It was a delightful "duck" and "watch out" moment for everyone as the planes began to soar! What a fun and creative activity!

Did you know that Schuylkill Center has pet Parakeets in house?
We do! We have SIX colorful parakeets! Our residents love to come into the Activities office to sit and chat with them, listen to them chatter and watch them play. Four of them reside in the Activities office and the other two love bird parakeets reside in the Homestead Memory Care unit, so that everyone gets to enjoy their company.
Meet Buddy, Cupcake, Snowy, Sky, Dolce & Gabbana.
We also have two tanks of goldfish too for a relaxing visit.
Precious pets make for peaceful moments!

Mardi Gras went off without a hitch at Schuylkill Center with everything from colorful costumes to fun decor and delicious treats! They started off with donuts and fun drinks for "Fat Tuesday." Everyone enjoyed "Mardi Gras Bingo" with photo cards then switched over to regular bingo. Everyone received beads, activity bucks to spend in the resident store, and lots of laughs with all our mischievous jesters. Everyone had an absolute BLAST!

Valentines Day was celebrated at Schuylkill Center with fun crafts, treats, gifts and a festive party!
Crafts included painting paper towel hearts, sticker character fun, and painting valentine heart signs that said, "You are Loved."
A Valentine cart was passed around on Friday with a stuffed plush and valentine card for every resident.
The party also included "breaking the activity director's heart game," where everyone won prizes and Valentine's Day trivia!

On February 12th, Schuylkill Center hosted a heartfelt concert presented by the family of the late Al Shade. Al Shade and his wife, Jean, were cherished performers in the community for over 70 years. Many residents fondly recall taking their children to enjoy the family's performances at local fairs and carnivals.
Al Shade will be profoundly missed, but his legacy will continue through his children. We extend our gratitude to Faron Shade and Debbie Ann for bringing music and joy to the Schuylkill Center.
Additionally, the Al & Jean Shade Country radio station continues to broadcast every Monday through Friday at 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. on WWSM.US.

Residents at Schuylkill Center enjoyed indoor mini golfing to beat the cold winter blues! What a fun and competitive activity to help improve balance while enjoying a strategic game! Looks like a ton of fun!
