Meet our newest Barre teacher: Lindsay! Lindsay T. Miller is a former award-winning competitive dancer with over fifteen years of training in ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical, as well as twelve years of training in ballroom and Latin dance. She has previously taught classes at Betty Jean’s Dance Studio, Dance Expression of Dutchess & Westchester, and In Motion Dance Center. She has also taught Beginner Ballet Barre for adults at Barre Fitness Poughkeepsie.

Lindsay started her dance education at 3 years old at Betty Jean’s Dance Studio in Wappingers Falls, NY, and later continued at The American Academy of Ballet Summer School of Excellence, Broadway Dance Center, The Paul Taylor School, and Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Dutchess. She began teaching and choreographing at the age of 16. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2006 from Binghamton University, where she studied English Literature and Theatre. During her time at Binghamton, she performed jazz and hip-hop routines at NCAA Division I basketball games with the Binghamton University Dance Team, danced and choreographed for Children’s Dance Theatre, and was involved in several productions with the University Theatre Department, Hinman Production Company, and Dickinson Community Players.

For many years, she has served in various capacities for local community theaters including County Players, Standing Room Only Theater Company, Trinity Players, Spotlight Theater Productions, 4th Wall Productions, and more.

Lindsay is a 2017 graduate of Marist University with a Master of Arts degree in Integrated Marketing Communication. She has previously worked in non-profit fundraising for United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region and American Ballet Theatre. Lindsay is currently a certified barre instructor at Barre Fitness Poughkeepsie, a dance instructor with Movement Arts Collaborative, and works in the museum shop for Locust Grove Historic Site.

This is a special package to help ring in 2026! This is a package of 5 ballet barre fitness classes for $99 (normally a 5 class package is $125 and drop in class rate is $30).

Classes are for all levels. All classes take place at 2 Lagrange Ave., suite 203, Poughkeepsie NY. This package is good for 7 weeks from the date of purchase, then it expires.

Hello 👋 from Barre Fitness Poughkeepsie. This is Jessica (in front) the owner and Lindsay (in back) one of our instructors. Just doing some barre on a rainy night and talking about the mental health aspects. We both came in from stressful days, feeling a little like we just wanted to go home, but knowing we’d feel better after a workout. And we did. Maybe the stressors were still there, but they just weren’t affecting us the same way as before. You really can burn off stress and elevate your mood with exercise. And what’s nice about our studio is that we do chat during class, we laugh, we share recipes, we talk about what shows we are watching. And all of that lifts the mood and gets us through the tough parts of the workout. We hope you can come let go of a little stress over the holidays with barre. First class is free. We do push ups EVERY class. But there are modifications so all levels can do this! Full push ups, knees, and pushups on the barre.

Barre in Poughkeepsie, NY

BARRE: The Body Barre technique was created by late German Dancer Lotte Berk in which the focus was to create the elongated, slender body of a dancer for someone with no dance experience. The Barre Workout uses a series of deep muscle isolation movements that are intended to really get in and fatigue the muscle. After which, the specific muscle group is then stretched out in order to create that perfect “toned” physique. This method helps regain a youthful posture and is specifically designed to align your knees, neck and back. Anyone can do it regardless of shape or size and the results happen radically, so be prepared to be pleasantly surprised. We offer Barre classes 6 days per week.
