Today we proudly celebrated our 100+ Club on the 100th day of the year. Specifically, we honored two incredible women, Helen and Tilly, who will be turning 105 this year.
Helen was born at home in the Bronx in 1921 and grew up during the Great Depression as the oldest of five children. Even in challenging times, her life was filled with love, family, music, and a strong foundation of faith. Independent and determined, she became the first woman in her family to drive, embracing each opportunity with confidence and spirit.
Her journey led her to a love story that began with a simple introduction and grew into a lifelong partnership, raising seven children together. Through life’s joys and hardships, including the loss of her husband, Helen continued forward with strength, later caring for her brother for over 40 years with unwavering devotion.
Tilly was born on April 6, 1921, in Schenectady, New York, the seventh of nine children in a large family shaped by strong roots and close connections. Her life has been centered on love, dedication, and the importance of family. She met her husband, Francis, in high school, and their marriage in 1941 marked the beginning of a lifelong partnership built on commitment and shared experiences.
As a devoted homemaker, Tilly created a warm and supportive home for her three children while embracing the many chapters life brought her way. From raising her family to traveling across the country and abroad with her husband, she filled her years with meaningful memories and lasting connections.
We are deeply grateful to Giselle from Senator Rob Rolison’s team, along with Alyssa and Riley from County Executive Sue Serino’s team, for joining us and presenting a special proclamation to honor these remarkable ladies. It was a truly memorable day filled with appreciation, connection, and celebration.
