Poway ranking as one of the safest cities in California 🌼 we love our city
The City of Poway was named California’s seventh safest city in the SafeWise “California’s Safest Cities of 2026” report. Poway was the only city in San Diego County to make the top 10 list, moving up from #12 to #7 on this annual ranking of California’s safest cities based on FBI crime data and population statistics.
“Our Sheriff’s deputies don’t just patrol Poway. They know it. The streets. The families. The businesses. They show up every single day with professionalism, good judgment, and heart,” Poway Mayor Steve Vaus said.
“Standing shoulder-to-shoulder with them is our Volunteer Sheriff’s Patrol, neighbors who give thousands of hours each year simply because they love this community. Poway is safe thanks to their teamwork and dedication. And we are truly grateful.”
The Safest Cities rankings offer a data-informed look at crime trends across 169 cities in California that met the criteria for consideration.
Incorporated in 1980, the City of Poway is home to nearly 50,000 residents. “The City in the Country” is known for its safety, fiscal management, natural beauty, commitment to open space and recreational opportunities and a thriving business sector.
