My friend Jodi sent me these beautiful flowers over the weekend from her garden. Little did she know that I was having a difficult day. The flowers and the thought of her sending them elevated me in ways I can’t convey in writing.

With the practice of Intentional living, small acts of kindness, such as giving someone flowers or a hug, are very important in creating and maintaining positive social connections. Our emotional well-being depends on this. I am reminded that gratitude is one of the greatest gifts you can offer yourself. What you focus on grows. So when you focus on the good things happening in your life, you bring more of them to you. A good tip is to be specific in what you are grateful for.

Gratitude and small acts of kindness easily make the receiver’s day wonderful but also increase the giver’s sense of fulfillment and connection. By spending time in her garden, harvesting flowers, and sending them through my daughter, Jodi is practicing intentional living. No matter how small. Please take the time to elevate someone's mood today especially yours by choosing to focus on gratitude for something you may consider small.

With the nice weather we had in Ohio over the weekend, I wanted to remind everyone to be mindful when picking your sunscreen this spring & summer.

Sunlight is an instant mood booster and a major source of vitamin D. Overexposure to harmful UV radiation from the sun can be damaging to the skin. 💚☀️
Be kind to your body!
☀️Avoid the sun during peak hours
🧥Wear sun protective clothing
🧴Use mineral sunscreen- Zinc oxide & Titanium oxide
🧪Avoid chemical sunscreen - Oxybenzone & Avobenzone

Less is more. This weekend marked my last day as District 9 trustee for the Ohio Pharmacists Association. One less board on my plate so I can spend more time with my children. I retired from the board and my friend Julie was installed to take my place.

My friend and mentor Jen was installed as president. I presented CE teaching pharmacists from all over Ohio, clinical pearls on selecting the right supplement salt forms. Most importantly, I spent time with my fun pharmacy friends.

Make time to exercise-Chronic stress contributes to inflammation. Use meditation, yoga, biofeedback, guided imagery or some other method to manage stress throughout the day. 👟

⬇️ Comment below how you sneak exercise into your everyday life!

Here are 10 ways to sneak exercise into your everyday life
1. Park in the back of the parking lot to increase your step count. 🚗

2. Do a few sets of sit-ups, jumping jacks or lunges while you watch your kids at the park. 🛝

3. While you are sitting, do some leg lifts to work your abs. 🪑

4. Schedule workouts like you would a meeting. 📆

5. Use the time when you are washing dishes to work your legs by doing some calf raises. 🧽🍽️

6. Work your gluts by doing squats while you move clothes from the washer into the dryer. 💦

7. Get up 15min earlier and do a quick workout before you get ready. 🌅

8. Walk & talk. If you’re on a phone call walk around. 📲

9. If you sit at a desk for work, get out of your chair every 20 minutes to do calf raises or stretch. Set an alarm to keep you moving throughout the day.⏳

10. Find a workout buddy that you will hold each other accountable.🙏🏻

As Black History Month comes to a calendar “end”, consider ways to support Black owned businesses year round. When you support Black-owned businesses, you are building your community by investing in inclusion.

Honored to serve on this panel by Kegler Brown Hill + Ritter, a firm that not only highlights black owned businesses like mine during Black History Month but are a force of economic good, supporting Black owned businesses year round.

You too can do your part beyond February by becoming a consistent client, or mentoring and creating opportunities for black entrepreneurs. You will increase the business visibility and representation in today’s ever-evolving landscape.

We all struggle- Choose kindness always
