A diphyodont is any animal with two successive sets of teeth. We have baby (or deciduous) teeth following by a permanent set. Most mammals are diphyodonts. If we were polyphyodonts, we might not need dentists as we would constantly replace our teeth!

I came across a quote that said that losing one's teeth is a very common dream. Really? I have vivid dreams and don't EVER remember having this dream. Anyone?

Did you know? Tooth decay and other dental problems were once thought to be the result of tooth worms. First noted around 5000 BC, the widely held belief lasted up until around the 18th century. Various remedies were used to try to eradicate the worms, including removal of the nerve (thought to be the worm) which may have actually lessened the pain!
