Major progress, right? He finished the egg boxes and the roof. He’s working on the roosts. Needs the water catchment system still.

A few more final touches and then a coat of primer on the exterior. Cora is voting for orange paint. I hinted at maybe blending in with the landscape. Not for the cackle car! ☺️

Could admittedly be user error, as there are a lot of adjustments to make, but here are the results so far…

I did something brave this past weekend. Seasoned farmers would laugh at me for using that word. 🤣

While I transplant lots of crops, I direct sow some, like carrots. I finally got around to purchasing a very expensive single row Jang seeder.

What’s brave about using it? Switching from hand seeding to a seeder means I’m not in full control about where seed goes. 😳

Pros: it’s fast once you get it set up.

Cons: there is a lot to adjust for the setup. And at least with carrot seeds, I couldn’t really see them dropping out into the soil…you know, for that reassurance I desperately needed😬.

Yep! That’s Wes working on the door and you see he’s getting ready to do the egg boxes. Our friend Nick even helped with welding the foundation it sits on.

It’s a beast and Cora is so excited! She has named the mobile chicken tractor coop ”The Cackle Car.” 🤣

Forgot to post this small collection of pictures Cora took of the yogurt party she gave the chickens.

I found like 100 pictures on my phone.  And videos. I know you have been there…well probably not with chicken photos. 😜

It might be hard to tell, but I think way way deep down inside Wes loves it when I show up with the camera rolling. 🤣

He built a smaller version at our old place, but it got too heavy for us (aka me) to move by hand. Essentially it was a tractor coop but we didn’t own a tractor.

While eggs sadly continue to be a lost leader at our farm, more chickens = more happiness for Cora. 🐓

I finally got around to doing this about a month ago. Rosemary is so easy to propagate!

I didn’t know if these would work because the cuttings were quite woody, but all of them took. 👍🏽🥳
