Australia has eradicated cervical cancer!! This is a huge win for preventative care!

“In 2021, there were no cervical cancer cases diagnosed in women under 25 for the first time since records began in 1982 - with the report stating ‘this remarkable achievement is almost certainly due to the impact of HPV vaccination!”
This is likey due to several factors. Australia has a National school based HPV vaccines for boys and girls and there is a National Cervical Screening Registry.

In the US HPV vaccination is recommended for men and women up to age 45 to decrease risk of all job related cancers including cervical, vulvar, head and neck, and pe**le.

This is a huge step for postpartum care in the US. While we are significantly lacking other first world countries, this is a step to acknowledge the stress families caring for an infant in the NICU.

Having an infant in the NICU can be incredibly stressful— emotionally, medically and financially. Many families have to choose between being present with their infant and saving their job. When infants are born premature, they are typically hospitalized in the NICU until around the time of their estimated due date. This can be months.

This leave will take a significant stress off of these families and promote health and wellbeing of the entire family unit! Hopefully other states will follow!

Toddlers are WILD and wonderful!

A toddler was responsible for this—breaking her mom’s nexplanon while it was still in her arm!

But they are also so wonderful that their craziness sometimes makes you want another baby. 🤣 so we took both pieces out!

Fun fact: nexplanons are still very effective contraception, even if broken in half in your arm!
