Your back pain isn’t your fault, it’s our fault, let’s fix it together:

When it comes to pain, the healthcare system which we are reluctantly part of has failed you. You’ve been inundated by messages that pain is something to be feared, medicated, or cut out of your body. You’ve been told to rest and “take it easy” and “wait for things to calm down”. These messages don’t allow you to fight back, they don’t empower you with the truth that variables driving your pain are almost always modifiable and completely under your control. Back pain, or any other musculoskeletal pain for that matter, is usually the result of an imbalance between tissue capacity and demands placed upon it, BOTH of which YOU can change. Our job is to come along side you and help you identify where the imbalance is, and then chart a clear course to modify your stressors while increasing your tissue capacity, shifting the balance in your favor and eliminating the pain. It is a matter of managing your symptoms while we maximize your fitness.

So why is your pain our fault you ask? Because you haven’t received this message until now, because we haven’t been loud enough to cloud out the profit driven nonsense of the medical industrialized complex and pharmaceutical industry. Let’s make spooky season a little less spooky…

Are you worried lifting is going to harm the pelvic floor? What if we told you research suggest training and strength may be protective of the pelvic floor instead! Your pelvic floor will THANK YOU for lifting.

Pull-Ups and sit ups sometimes get a bad rap; let’s work on pressure management and good bracing while modifying as needed, instead of being fearful of these movements!

Exercise has continued to show positive support to women during pregnancy even if it’s new. A recent survey revealed participants who maintained pre-pregnancy training levels until delivery reported a 51% reduction in complications. Lift on!

Diastasis is a normal adaptation during pregnancy. 100% of pregnancies will have DRA by 3rd trimester. So, let’s add proper training and get that core strong. We can handle this — don’t let it stop you from hitting your goals.

Do I have to wait until the 6 week mark to initiate therapy? Nope! We can start pelvic floor physical therapy as early as 2 weeks. There is so much we can — and SHOULD — work on before then!

Our goal has always been simple: to help Kansas City’s fitness community - move, train, and live freely — without feeling trapped in the medical system when pain or injuries limit performance to show up in the gym, competition, or life.

One of the many highlights over the past year has been connecting with the incredible fitness community here in KC — from local gyms to CrossFit boxes, running groups, and everything in between.

I’m beyond excited to begin this next chapter with Onward Kansas City. Over the years, I’ve learned that performance isn’t just about lifting more weight or chasing PRs—isn’t just about building strength, resilience, and confidence that can carry over into every part of life, it’s also about pursuing excellence in your craft that can last.

My mission is clear: to help people unlock their full potential and realize what they’re truly capable of in the pursuit of health, fitness and the active lifestyles they love. Whether it’s in the weight room under the bar, on the tee box or everyday movement, I believe progress starts with a commitment to do it the best way possible!

Leigh came to us with a limp limiting her weightlifting program that’s now a thing of the past—walking without pain for the first time in years!

She found that less really is more when it comes to our specialized physical therapy approach at Onward.
