If we’ve spent our life in sympathetic activation, otherwise identified as being always on the go and finding it hard to just stop and sit and do nothing between things without our mind, constantly ruminating, or thinking about the next thing… it might be hard to identify what happiness actually feels like in the body. This is something that comes up often with clients in sessions.
Sometimes excitement is identified as happiness. And excitement can certainly feel happy! But there’s another place where more relaxed and contented fulfillment can sit in that feels a bit quieter. What is the state and how do we get there? I had an enjoyable discussion with Kim Beer on her podcast recently about this very thing.
