The Postpartum Support group has a new name!! I never wanted to let the support group die off even though I knew I couldn’t handle even a once a month meeting when I was in school. With many faithful attendees and more and more babies, I handed over the reigns. I will still pop in when I can (and post updates!), but our little group will now be known as the Driftless Mom Group. All moms are welcome! We still want the focus of the group to be encouraging and supportive, which can start during pregnancy and continue with toddlers and pre schoolers. Please check out social media for updates (like last weeks ice storm), but you can also text Madison at (563) 880-8904 with any questions!! We hope to see more moms and babies in 2026!!!!

Our support group got a re-vamp as well! We are now "The Driftless Mom Group" and we are excited to be meeting twice a month again! My friend Madison will be leading the group, but we still have many faithful attendees. My attendance will be scare, but I am thankful for these moms who have created a community together who are happy to embrace any new mom who comes!

Come chat and support one another on this parenting journey!

Meet my wonderful team teaching childbirth classes for me as I begin school. I knew I could not schedule childbirth classes while being on call and in school, and attempt to keep my sanity. These ladies stepped up and are teaching my classes! We met several times to train and they have already taught a few classes. If you reach out to schedule a class, you will get one of them depending on your location. I am so thankful I didn't have to stop classes and we can offer local, independent childbirth classes!

Looking for an independent childbirth class to teach you what you need to know about birthing in or out of the hospital? Look no further! Check out the list of classes and see which one is right for you!

Excited to announce my new logo!!! It weaves in the miraculous story of Moses (name meaning “drawn from the waters”) delivered by Shiphrah and Puah, Jewish midwives, when Pharaoh ordered all the Hebrew babies to be slaughtered. “When you do the duties of a midwife for the Hebrew women, and see them on the birth stools, if it is a son, then you shall kill him.” But the midwives feared God and did not follow orders. Their excuse for the living Hebrew babies that they refused to kill was to say “the Hewbrew women are not like the Egyptian women; for they are lively and give birth before midwives come to them.” Midwives have always been rebels, but for the right reasons.

The “Wonderfully Made” is a nod to the Psalms 139:14 “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous and Your works, And that my soul knows very well.” I believe we are created beautifully in the womb by God. We should respect and honor all life.

When I was in the early stages of labor with my first son, I read this verse a few times, mentally preparing to bring a whole life into this world. Thankfully he came safely, born into the water, drawn up by my dear midwife!

I might be getting ahead of myself, but I figure when I’m discouraged by school or hard nights, I will be reminded of the faith, history, and strength of midwives before me!

Thank you

Midwives are people too, just like OB’s, just like those free birthing. I truly believe a vast majority of those in maternal health care want what is best for their clients/ patients. However, they all have different training and ways they respect and honor birth. You have to choose what your level of comfort and need is for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Nothing is one size fits all. And I don’t believe the (valid) exposure and bashing of FBS should equate midwives suddenly having to people please those who don’t trust them. They should be genuine and authentic in the care they provide, what they are and are not comfortable serving, and people can choose based off of that.
