Deputy Nathan Bremmer and Coordinator Susan Hilger had the opportunity to attend the 2025 PTACC Deflection and Diversion Summit in New Orleans.

Wisconsin was well represented, with numerous sessions focused on programs and resources available right here in our state.

One of the major takeaways from the summit was the reminder that “the program cannot be the person.” Effective programs rely on strong teamwork and community partnerships—these collaborations are what connect individuals with treatment, support, and meaningful alternatives to incarceration.

Diversion is new to Crawford County in 2025. Funding was received to send two team members to the PTACC Summit (Deflection & Pre-Arrest Diversion) in New Orleans. The 2025 grant was written for a participant number of ten people. Crawford County filled all ten, with a current waiting list!

Stay tuned for a review and overview in the near future from the two team members attending this amazing opportunity.

Collaborative Care Co-Care Study

* Plan ahead: Acknowledge that the holidays can be challenging and have a strategy in place to manage potential triggers and stress.

* Set boundaries: It's okay to say no to invitations that feel overwhelming or risky for your sobriety. Protecting your recovery is the top priority.

* Communicate your needs: If comfortable, inform your host or a few trusted friends about your sobriety to get support and avoid pressure to drink.

* Bring your own drink: Bringing a non-alcoholic beverage ensures you have something to drink and can prevent others from constantly offering you alcohol.

* Arrange a support system: Make sure your support system (sponsor, sober friends, family) is available to talk, and know about any recovery meetings happening on Thanksgiving Day.
