We get all kinds of holiday babies, and today we got to welcome a sweet morning Thanksgiving baby boy born to a strong, determined momma who we’re all glad beat the incoming weekend storm…

We are so blessed by this work. The year has been a whirlwind of change, joy, and tears, to say the least. Many of us have had dreams of Heather in one way or another since her death, and in all of them she has been so quintessentially herself. Rocking in a rocking chair, telling us the words we need to hear, coming around the corner at a birth, her softness and warmth in a hug, cracking a slightly off joke while at a birth, chuckling at our uncertainties and reassuring us. We share these dreams with each other, and I’m pretty sure we all individually hold onto them tightly. I know I do.

This time of the year makes me miss her more, without a doubt. I can’t imagine what Trillium would be without her years of wisdom, heart, and business mind. I don’t have the right words to express how thankful I am to her for what Trillium now is for the many women we serve. Today is a time to sit in the bittersweetness of gratitude, both for what’s been lost and what’s been gained.

A fun day full of sweet postpartum visits today. Did you know that midwifery care doesn’t just stop after birth? In addition to four in person postpartum check ins, you have 24/7 access to your providers for any questions or concerns that might arise, day or night. These hour long visits offer comprehensive care for mom and baby, including well woman care at the final visit if needed. And, when we're lucky, we get some midwife baby snuggles as well 🥰

Happy Midwifery Week! 🤍

A beautifully strong birth to complete 690 babies caught since becoming a midwife. This dear couple has walked the road of heartache and joy with so much dignity and courage, and have graciously allowed me/us to walk beside them in their journey. I’m so grateful to know them.

And apparently a shake from Udder Brothers in Boscobel might help get a putzy labor kicked into gear!!

It was a bittersweet day for Trillium. We’ve had two births so far today, both beautiful labors, but the second one was the last birth we will do at our Prairie du Chien office. Heather and I had our first birth at this office on October 29, 2016, almost nine years ago. I hadn’t remembered that date until today when I looked it up, but now will have it forever in my mind as the date of Heather, Ben, and Simon’s passing from this life to the life they had been created to live in God’s kingdom. Heather was with us today, from a dream Eliza had before she got called in, to the tears we shared as this part of Trillium’s story is ending, to knowing she was sharing in the joy and beauty of watching these sweet first time parents falling in love with their child in the first precious minutes after a birth. I love my team deeply, but today, we all missed Heather ❤️. Thank you to this couple for bringing a wonderful birth to close this chapter. - Alison 💕

Thank you to everyone who came to our annual picnic! It always a pleasure to see your families grow. We laughed because sometimes the midwives need reminding on babies’s names… but in their defense they always look dramatically different every time we see them! Love you all 💕

Trillium is an all female crew, except for our new office manager assistants!!! Asher and Yuriah are the cutest little helpers. Jessica and Katie had these sweet boys about a week apart in the spring. And now they are back in the office. If you have an appointment you might see these cuties helping their moms out.
