Update on UHC Medicaid changes.
It looks like the State has given an extension to UHC, realizing that the timeline of switching so many patients would be rushed. The state will automatically switch patients to different plans January 1, 2026. Some patients may automatically be switched to Aetna Better Health. We are being told to check back with your insurance company after January 5th to change plans to Aetna if you were switched to a different plan.

UHC Community Plan Update

We will soon be contracting exclusively with Aetna Better Health for our Medicaid patients. This means Aetna will be the only Medicaid plan we accept moving forward.

The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) will be reassigning all current UHC Community Plan members to another Medicaid plan. Some patients may be reassigned to Aetna, but others may be placed in a different plan. If you are assigned to a plan other than Aetna, you will have an opportunity to switch—however, this can only be done within a specific timeframe.

At this time, we have limited information on how the transition process will work. As soon as we receive more details, we will share them with you.

If you have questions or need assistance, please contact your insurance company directly for guidance.

Dear patients — important update on Medicaid coverage

You may have heard recent media reports that UnitedHealthCare of Louisiana (UHC Medicaid) is losing its contract with the state as of December 31, 2025.

We understand this news is upsetting and confusing. Please know: we were not notified in advance either, and we share your concern about what this means for your care.

We have already reached out to our UHC Medicaid provider representative to get clarity on how this will impact our patients, and what alternative coverage options will be available beginning January 1. We have also started looking into other Medicaid plans that we can contract with, but credentialing can take some time.

As soon as we learn more, we will update this page so everyone knows what to do next.

In the meantime, please do not assume you have lost coverage — and please hold off on calling the office because we don't have any information yet. We promise to keep patients informed as soon as new information arrives.

Thank you for your understanding and patience during this uncertain time.
