Pediatric Therapy Solutions

Pediatric Therapy Solutions At Pediatric Therapy Solutions (PTS), we specialize in helping little people do BIG things. Let me tell you a little bit about myself and how I got started.

Hi, I'm Danielle Saunders Mixon and I'm the owner of an outpatient therapy clinic for children in Prairieville called Pediatric Therapy Solutions. I am an occupational therapist with over twenty years of experience and have worked in outpatient settings as well as in the public school system. Through my work, I've noticed that although our community has many children with developmental challenges,

until now, there have been no outpatient therapy services available in Ascension parish. Parents were having to drive to Baton Rouge or further for outpatient therapy, and too many of these children just weren't able to get the early intervention that they needed. In addition to being an occupational therapist, I am also a parent of a child with developmental challenges. Having a child with challenges, and living the daily life and facing the same obstacles that my patients and their families face has changed the way that I practice therapy. I realize now, more than ever, that every child is truly unique and has unique difficulties that must be addressed in a way that works for that child. Through research, consulting with other pediatric professionals, and an extensive amount of training, I have learned about many different techniques and strategies that have proven to be effective with treating children with various challenges. One method in particular, the Masgutova Method (MNRI- Masgutova Neuro Sensory Motor Reflex Integration), has been life changing for my son. The use of these techniques often results in global improvements in children, and it was the key to my son's ability to overcome his physical, mental, and emotional challenges. There were many other factors, but when we started MNRI, his life started to change. He has made astounding progress and is currently a happy, smart child who is doing well in school and has several friends. This would certainly not have been the case without effective early intervention. It was through my personal experience with having a child with challenges, as well as seeing a growing need in our community that lead me to decide to open Pediatric Therapy Solutions. At PTS, we work with children with mild to severe challenges, including everything from poor handwriting, dyslexia, behavior concerns and challenges with attention and focus, to autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, cerebral palsy, sensory processing disorder, developmental delays, anxiety, PTSD and fine-motor concerns. We treat every child like we would our own, and we offer one-on-one treatment sessions that include educating parents on interventions that they can do at home to maximize their child's potential. I believe wholeheartedly, and I speak from experience, that EFFECTIVE early intervention is the KEY to unlocking each child's full potential in life. If you feel that your child has potential that has not been unlocked, I encourage you to contact us. Your child may have an abundance of potential just waiting to show it's shining face.

Dr. Steph led a lunch and learn for the PTS staff last week about Torticollis.

Torticollis is often first noticed in babies as a preference for tilting the head to one side or looking in one direction. This is caused by a tightening or shortening of muscles in the neck.

This common condition should be addressed in early infancy to find the root cause, prevent changes in head shape, and prevent limitations in areas such as feeding, vision, movement, and posture.

We love our lunch and learns, which allow us to constantly learn from each other!

Our students aren't the only ones growing around here! Our PAL therapeutic preschool friends got some hands on experience planting tomatoes, cucumbers, and blackberries in our garden! They then learned what plants need to grow - soil, water, and sunshine. Our little farmers now get to see their growing plants when they come outside to play 🌱 .

We’re incredibly proud of our little friends who do BIG things in physical therapy! 🌷

Today brings both bittersweet news and an exciting new beginning for our community. πŸ’™

After many years of dedicated service, NeuroTherapy Specialists in Baton Rouge has made the difficult decision to close their doors as they enter a well-deserved season of retirement. Their impact on so many children and families in our area has been truly meaningful, and their legacy of compassionate, high-quality care will not be forgotten.

We are incredibly honored that NeuroTherapy Specialists has entrusted Pediatric Therapy Solutions with the opportunity to continue caring for many of their patients. It means so much to us that they would recommend our team to carry forward the relationships and progress they’ve worked so hard to build.

With that, we are proud to announce that Pediatric Therapy Solutions will be opening a new satellite clinic in Baton Rouge in May! ✨

Additionally, the outstanding physical therapists from Neurotherapy Specialists will be joining our team, helping to provide continuity, comfort, and a smooth transition for families during this time.

Our commitment remains the same: to provide compassionate, individualized care for every patient and to support families every step of the way. We look forward to welcoming both new and familiar faces as we continue serving the Baton Rouge community.

Please join us in celebrating the incredible work of NeuroTherapy Specialists and wishing them all the best in this next chapter, and in welcoming this new beginning with Pediatric Therapy Solutions.

If you have any questions about the transition or services at our Baton Rouge location, we are here and happy to help. (225) 744-1717
