Food....its so complicated and yet so simple. We link food to our childhood, celebrations, comfort, etc. and that makes for a complex relationship. We can be addicted to foods or reliant on certain types (like fast foods) which makes it hard to shift how we think of it.

We need food to survive but our understanding of what foods to eat and how much is continually changing depending on who you talk to/ read/ listen to. All this mingles together in a complex jumble leaving us confused about what to eat and frustrated about how to make a change. Media doesn't help, there is a new fad weekly based loosely on bad research that doesn't provide us with a complete picture or take into consideration our individuality.

The most sound food advice we can give is this...food should be simple.

We don't mean it can't have complex flavors and be exciting to your pallet. We mean it should be recognizable (food dosen't grow from boxes, cans, or plasic wrap), it should feel good when you eat it (do you feel bogged down after eating it or have a crash afterwards?), and it shouldn't have to travel 1000s of miles because it doesn't grow near you or isn't in season.

Choose fresh fruits & vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts & seeds. Skip added sugars, ingredients you can't pronounce, or anything that lists more than 5 ingredients. Choose local & in season produce. Meat sourced locally or at least humanly and sustainably raised and don't over consume it. Listen to your body, follow your ancestry, and enjoy eating, cooking, and socializing around food because it should be one of life's pleasures...not a stressor or problem to solve.

Naturopathic medicine is a unique form of medicine that emphasizes prevention of illness, supporting the body’s innate healing abilities, and addressing the root cause. We use tools like nutrition, stress management, craniosacral, hydrotherapy, acupuncture, and spinal manipulation to name a few.

We also look at medicine from the Eastern view through Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). We often combine the philosophy of both Western and Eastern traditions which gives us a unique perspective on health. The integration of acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, and moxibustion with Naturopathic Medicine allows us create a treatment plan as unique as you are.
