A Compliance Champion is more than just someone who follows the rules — they’re the ones who set the standard for integrity, accountability, and teamwork every day!
Compliance Champions promote awareness of policies and procedures that keep everyone safe and informed. They lead by example, showing that doing things the right way isn’t just required — it’s respected. They speak up when something doesn’t look right and encourage others to do the same. They build trust by making compliance part of our culture, not just a checklist.

Being a Compliance Champion means caring about our clients and staff and helping everyone succeed the right way.

We are grateful to those who make integrity a daily habit — our valued Compliance Champions! Stay tuned to congratulate all of our Champions this week- they all deserve a shout-out and a SHARE!

It is no surprise that Kara Gallegos is our first featured COMPLIANCE CHAMPION this week! Kara has dedicated 18 years of excellence and leadership to our clients and staff- her sharp attention to compliance has been a cornerstone of our success. Kara's greatest compliance strength is supporting the development and implementation of policy and is a ROCKSTAR at communicating policy and procedure to ensure meaningful adherence across the board. Our compliance procedures are STRONGER and more EFFECTIVE with Kara on our team. Tell Kara how much you appreciate her in the comments below and SHARE this post so EVERYONE can celebrate her!

Grit. Dirt. Passion. There is no Rodeo like the Mingus Mountain Youth Treatment Center Founder’s Day Rodeo.

This event is the culmination of everything the ladies have worked toward and the energy on the mountain is electric. It’s more than an equestrian event. It’s about the fears faced, the challenges overcome, the skills learned.

Competing in Founder’s Day Rodeo is one of the highest honors steeped in 25 years of Rodeo Tradition. Led by our Equine Director, Mickey Kissell these ladies are taking the reins of their survivor story and writing a new chapter.

This is a moment that will live with them forever. We are inviting you in to experience in small measure the breakthrough and the sheer JOY this event brings.

We love this event because this is more than a Rodeo. This is the moment we see HOPE rise up and make the proclamation: My Story is Just Beginning!

Special thanks goes out to our Executive Director, Shaun Mohon and our amazing staff, as well as our Mingus Board and Mickey Kissell. 🧡

Mingus Mountain Youth Treatment Center was proud to welcome Dr. Dominique Roe-Sepowitz from ASU’s Office of S*x Trafficking Intervention Research (STIR) for a STAR Training (S*x Trafficking Awareness and Recovery) — a trauma- and survivor-informed curriculum for professionals supporting trafficking survivors.

We were grateful to collaborate with local behavioral health clinicians, therapeutic foster care providers, and juvenile probation partners who joined us for this important training.

Together, we’re building stronger, trauma-informed communities to help youth heal and thrive. 💙

Mingus Mountain Youth Treatment Center is honored to attend the 3rd Annual A Call to Action! Arizona Human Trafficking Summit 2025.

This summit brings together professionals from across Arizona—including law enforcement, child safety, education, medical care, advocacy, and mental health—to strengthen knowledge and training around s*x trafficking and its impact on our youth, schools, and communities.

The goal: to work collectively on prevention, develop strategies to combat trafficking, and ensure victims are supported with the care they deserve. We are grateful to be part of such an important statewide effort to inform, prevent, and protect. 💙

We just had to share our celebration with you!

Our Amazing Therapy Dog, Daisy 🌼💕, had a birthday and it’s was so much fun!

The girls worked very hard decorating the dorm and she even got her own Birthday Treat! Our Daisy is a STAR! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

She turned 4 years old last Thursday. The girls created the best birthday memories for her (and us!) 💕

Her theme this year was “Come on Barbie, let’s go PAW-ty” 🐾

The girls all did their hair and makeup and took mini photo shoots with Daisy and the Barbie backdrop.

Check out our birthday girl all decked out and ready to “Paw-Ty!” 🐾🌼💕

A special thank you to all the wonderful young ladies at MMYTC who made this day so special for Daisy and the whole campus!

You guys are amazing 🤩

This isn't just treatment. It's TRANSFORMATION.

When a girl is exploited into the world of trafficking, the days of friend groups, after school sports, and keeping up with the latest gossip are gone. Her days are replaced by pimps, traffic-rings, forced s*x-labor and a combination of drugs and alcohol to chase away the nightmare she has to endure. It is very common for these girls to feel there is no way out. Imagine that: to feel trapped into this life at the young age of thirteen or fourteen.

Often, when a girl is trafficked she is branded with a tattoo or mark that represents an unhealthy loyalty she "owes" the pink or trafficker. This "brand" is aimed at going right to the heart of the young girl's identity and is a very difficult roadblock to healing. It is a daily reminder of the trauma, betrayal and hurt she has had to endure.

Mingus Mountain Youth Treatment Center's treatment teams are always looking for the pathways to a treatment journey that EMPOWER our girls. Because they are survivors!

One of the most beautiful ways our teams have discovered to empower them to take control of their story and their future is through our tattoo removal services. We have partnered with Soul Survivor Ink https://soulsurvivor.ink and additional custom laser removal boutiques to help our girls "Write A New Story," one that doesn't include these brands, marks or claims on their identity.

We Empower these girls to own their story and to have hope for the future! We are so grateful to our teams, our leadership and our Community partners, like Soul Survivor Ink who, are stepping up to be a part of the healing journey for the girls at Mingus Mountain Youth Treatment Center.

We’ve got Rodeo on our minds this beautiful Friday! 🤠🤎🧡🐴🐎

Our ladies are in full prep mode as they prepare for Rodeo Tryouts!

Rodeo is just around the corner and we have 52 girls trying out and only 20 spots to fill, so they are working diligently to learn all the events.

We can’t wait to see this wonderful yearly tradition come alive. The ladies will compete in barrel racing, pole bending, steer roping, goat tying & trail obstacle courses 🤠🐴🤎

This is our most beloved and well attended event and the ladies are so excited to show off their skills!

Mingus Mountain Academy

Mingus Mountain Academy is a Joint Commission (JCAHO) accredited residential treatment center for emotionally and behaviorally at-risk adolescent girls. Founded in 1985, the Academy is located on a 120-acre campus surrounded by National Forest, 25 minutes from the town of Prescott Valley, Arizona. Our ability to motivate the girls toward a positive, healthy future is a major factor in our success. To this end, our program combines a positive peer culture, caring staff, careful medical treatment, individualized psychotherapy and education, and numerous activities including our unique equestrian program. The peer culture uses the power of positive peer influence to address behavioral problems. Because many of the students who come to us have experienced significant trauma, our treatment team is specially trained to address these issues within our safe, structured, and nurturing environment. An emphasis on family therapy fosters successful reunification with families. Two therapeutic group homes give students the opportunity to re-enter society, living in nearby communities and getting part-time jobs if they wish, while continuing their treatment and education on campus.
