My classes I'm teaching this Winter Semester 2026 at Yavapai College...

Strength & Balance
This slower-paced class is ideal for beginners as well as anyone looking to build a strong foundation in fitness. Students will focus on developing stronger muscles, improving balance, and increasing overall stability through safe, guided movements. Exercises emphasize core strength, posture, and proper technique to improve body awareness, prevent injury, and reduce the risk of falls. The program also supports increased energy, mobility, and confidence in everyday activities.

Classes include both standing and floor exercises, and students are encouraged to bring a towel and water.

Instructor: Joy Travers is a nationally certified personal trainer and master yoga teacher with over 30 years of experience helping students improve strength, balance, and overall well-being. She combines her deep knowledge of movement and injury prevention with a supportive teaching style to create a safe and welcoming environment for all fitness levels.

Hatha Yoga
This class focuses on holding poses, mindful breathing, and aligning the body to release stuck tension and energy. The slower pace allows students to develop strength, balance, and flexibility while improving posture and body awareness. Regular practice can reduce stress, support better sleep, increase circulation, and enhance overall well-being. Hatha Yoga is accessible to all levels and provides a foundation for cultivating both physical health and inner calm.

So a boulder goes hurling at a big red tuck off the dump truck hauling big rocks away. It takes a corner and one come flying off. It flies right in front of this big red truck and rolls right under the the front of the truck and the lady driving doesn't see it. So our side of the traffic is stopped at the light. I'm waving trying to get her attention then I start beeping my horn trying to signed her stop don't go. She looks up at the light, sees it's green and gasses it. She almost gets stuck and it doesn't sound or look good as wrecks over that rock. She looks at me like "oh boy that's not good"! I shrug my shoulders and say "i tried to tell you". She was turning left at the light.

I see my light is still red so I put my hazard light on and carefully get out and get the rock out of the street. Vehicles are trying to go around the big rock and they are swing into on coming traffic lane to do it. That rock was probably a 40-50 pound rock but I got it! It felt good to help others by moving the rock out of the way!
My good deed of the day! I though I would share it with you. I'm glad I workout!

Healthier, Happier, Stronger, Stretchier, Steadier!

When I tore the meniscus in my right knee I felt like and important part of my life might be over. I had surgery and began a slow recovery. Physical Therapy was great but limited in duration. Joy's Class at the Rosser Center is a wonderful addition to my recovery journey. She is thorough in her selection of exercises - all designed to create greater strength, flexibility, and balance. While PT ended, Joy's classes continue and I am increasingly happier, healthier, stronger, stretchier, and steadier!
