Mental Health Was Named the #1 Priority in Yavapai County — and Here’s Why It Matters
In 2022, our county completed a Community Health Assessment that revealed something urgent:
mental health needed to become the top priority for Yavapai County.
One of the most alarming findings was that our county’s su***de rate—32.8 per 100,000—was almost twice the Arizona state average.
Behind each number is a story, a family, a life that mattered.
Community leaders, health professionals, and residents all identified mental health as one of the top three concerns affecting quality of life in our region. The county’s action plan now focuses on:
~Expanding access to mental health providers
~Improving prevention and intervention strategies
~Strengthening community support
~Reducing barriers to care
Why share this?
Because if you are struggling, it does not mean you’re failing.
It means you’re human, living in a county where many people carry heavy emotional and psychological burdens.
And it means this: you are not alone, and you are not invisible.
Our community is pushing harder than ever for compassionate, evidence-based support. Whether you're dealing with stress, depression, trauma, burnout, or simply feeling overwhelmed—you deserve care, understanding, and hope.
If you need someone to talk to, please reach out.
If you love someone who is struggling, check in.
If you’re feeling isolated, connect with a safe person today.
Your presence matters deeply—to this community and to the people who care about you.
