APC calls on FDA to reverse its DTE reclassification.

This week, APC sent a letter to FDA Commissioner Marty Makary urging the agency to rescind its decision to classify desiccated thyroid extract (DTE) as a biologic — a move that would ban compounding and remove commercial DTE products from the market.

The request follows troubling reports that the reclassification may have been influenced by a personal vendetta from now-former FDA official George Tidmarsh, the former head of the agency’s drug division— raising serious questions about the integrity of the process.

We’re asking FDA to halt any enforcement actions and correct this misguided policy once and for all. Patients deserve better.
