Hebrews Chapter 4 today. As always, let's preface this experience by reminding the internet that I am not a Bible scholar. I’m learning alongside you. 💡Please share your thoughts and interpretations in the comments - this is meant to be interactive!

This chapter begins by telling us that those of us who believe and listen to God can enter his rest. Those who first heard the good news (Israel) failed to enter because they disobeyed God.

Then we're hit with these two verses:
The word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.

We're reminded that Jesus - who understands our humanity and weaknesses because he, too experienced all of it - has already entered heaven. We are invited to come to him seeking grace and mercy when we need it. (aka - every day...)

Major takeaways for me today:
💡Choosing to walk in faith or unbelief will have two very different outcomes.
💡We have no secrets in this life and we'll be accountable for all of it.
💡It's easy to forget that grace and mercy are available to us...(especially if you're someone who is typically hard on yourself.) It can be freeing to know that we are able to go before the throne and ask for help when we need it.

See you soon for chapter 5!

Hebrews Chapter 3 today.💡Please share your thoughts and interpretations in the comments - this is meant to be interactive! I’m learning alongside you.

Moses has entered the chat. I love the story of Moses 👏🏼 - I'm sure The Prince of Egypt movie has something to do with that. But today, our reading reminds us that Jesus is greater than Moses. Moses was a great servant inside God's house - but Jesus is in charge of God's entire house. (Christ-followers are God's house)

We're given another warning - to be careful not to harden our hearts. Make sure that our own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, causing us to turn away from a living God. We're called to warn one another every day so that none of us are deceived by sin. This is where trusted relationships and accountability come in. Do we have people that we trust in our lives to correct us when we need it? Or do we simply answer to no one?

The people of Israel were not allowed to enter God's place of rest because they rebelled, made God angry and disobeyed him. They had heard his voice and seen his miracles and still, they hardened their hearts.

If even *they* had this struggle after all they'd seen first hand - how will we fare?

Major takeaways for me today:
💡God creates the house - Jesus is in charge of the entire house - Moses is a servant of the house - Christ followers are the house.
💡 Trusted accountability is incredibly important in this life. If we can't trust people to help us stay on track (even when we don't want to) - I fear we will all end up being very self referenced, self focused, and immature.
💡 God will deny entry to his place of rest to those with hardened, disobedient hearts. I try to keep my heart in check...cause she tends to get angry a lot. 😅

See you tomorrow for chapter 4!

Hebrews Chapter 2. As always, let’s preface this experience by reminding the internet that I am not a Bible scholar. Take the meat and spit out the bones. I’m learning alongside you. 💡 Please share your thoughts and interpretations in the comments - this is meant to be interactive!

The chapter begins with a warning. “We must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it. For the message of God delivered through angels has always stood firm, and every act of disobedience was punished. So what makes us think we can escape?”
Ooof. 💀😬

For a time, Jesus was given a position lower than the angels (as a human), and because he suffered death for us, he is now “crowned with glory and honor.” God made Jesus a perfect leader through his suffering and only he is fit to bring many children into their salvation.
He is not ashamed to call us brothers and sisters. For he said to God,
“I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters. I will praise you among your assembled people.”

The chapter concludes by explaining to us that Jesus had to become fully human - fully flesh and blood - to be able to break the power of death, as only this sacrifice would take away the sins of people. Since Jesus himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested.

Major takeaways for me today:
💡 Listen carefully or drift away.
💡 What makes us think we can escape punishment?
💡 Jesus knows what it is to suffer.
💡 God loves humans for some reason...😅 I still haven’t quite figured out why, but I’ll keep reading and maybe I’ll find out.

See you tomorrow for chapter 3!

It's March! For those interested, we're going to begin walking through the book of Hebrews. As always, let's preface this experience by reminding the internet that I am not a Bible scholar. Take the meat and spit out the bones. I’m learning alongside you. 💡 Please share your thoughts and interpretations in the comments - this is meant to be interactive!

I had to read through Chapter 1 multiple times because it seemed too "simple"...buuut, I also know that nothing is ever that simple when it comes to the Bible.

The first section is loaded with information.
1) God first spoke to people in the past (our ancestors) through the prophets.
2) Then God spoke to people through his Son - his life, death & resurrection.
3) The Son (Jesus) radiates God's glory and is the only perfect representation of God's character.
4) After Jesus paid the price for all sins (crucifiction), he was seated at the right hand of the Father.

After we establish the fact that Jesus Christ is God's son, we are clearly told that Jesus is greater than all the angels. At first I wondered why this was so important to clarify...but then I remembered a specific angel who got a little too full of himself and now we're dealing with all this mess.

How we know Jesus is greater than the angels:
1) God has never said to any angel that He is their Father or they are his Son.
2) When God brought his Son into the world, he said, "Let all of God's angels worship Him."
3) He calls the angels "servants - spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation."
4) They do not get the seat of honor at his right hand.

When God speaks of his Son, he references: his throne, his sceptor of justice, and his annointing. He also says, "In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundation of the earth and made the heavens with your hands. They will perish, but you remain forever. They will wear out like old clothing. You will fold them up like a cloak and discard them like old clothing. But you are always the same; you will live forever."

Major takeaways for me today:
💡 Jesus Christ is God's son.
💡 When I think of angels...I often picture them in heavenly places - not caring for actual human people. It's a good reminder that they're here among us.
💡 Verse 13 - God will humble Jesus's enemies and make them a footstool under his feet. Allowing God to bring justice in His timing rather than seeking out revenge is a wild concept to me. 😅 But, I suppose He's better suited for the job than I am! In the world we live in today...that day will be welcomed with open arms.

See you tomorrow for chapter 2!

Want to read the bible through the month of March?
Let's choose between Mark, Isaiah, or Hebrews.
Cast your vote in the comments and we'll decide by Wednesday the 25th. 👇🏼

In December we read through the book of Luke and I posted daily with a recap of each chapter. In January, we read through John and this time I did *not* post daily.
Which do you prefer? Do you want it to be more of a conversational study like we had in December? I'm asking ahead of time because it's a *lot* of work, so if I do it, ya'll who are taking part better participate! 😂

Our Story

You might think of regular bodywork as a luxury, but in today's world it is a necessity. Therapeutic massage is highly effective at treating chronic pain due to overuse, repetitive motion, stress or physical trauma.

Therapeutic massage is an age-old remedy and health practice. It can be an important component of your health maintenance or wellness plan. It helps keep the body and mind functioning optimally.

Massage will promote well-nourished and healthy skin, improve circulation of blood and lymph, relax muscles and improve joint mobility, encourage general relaxation, improve immune system functioning and improve flexibility.

In addition to the benefits listed above, new applications for therapeutic massage are also surfacing in areas related to mental and emotional well-being.
