Central Aroostook Association

Central Aroostook Association We provide people in our programs the necessary support to reach their highest level of personal development. Welcome! Richard, Executive Director

Central Aroostook Association has proudly been serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1959. This amazing association was founded by parents who believed that their sons and daughters deserved to be educated, employed, and live in their own communities. Through a dedicated Board of Directors and supportive staff, our mission has continued since its inception. The association has grown from one program and is now supporting people in eight different programs. We hope that you enjoy surfing through our website. - Stephen D.

Central Aroostook Association’s Adult Programming hosted the 3rd Annual Chili Cook-Off today at Northern Maine Community College!

As the defending champs, CAA hosted this year’s event and the competition did not disappoint!

Participating organizations included Central Aroostook Association, 3Rivers, and Community Living Association. With 6 teams bringing their best recipes, 3 fantastic judges, and some creative posters, it was no easy task to crown a winner.

After much tasting, deliberation 3 Rivers walked away #1!

Congratulations to all who participated and thank you to everyone who helped make it a fun, flavorful day!

At Central Aroostook Association we feel that it is important to recognize staff who embrace the BELIEVE core values and apply them to their work every day. We are pleased to recognize staff members who embody what BELIEVE is about. These individuals give 100% to their job, serve as positive role models for their peers, and enhance the lives of the individuals they work with.
Congratulations to Emma Giberson, our January 2026 BELIEVE Award winner!
For nearly two years, Emma has served as a Behavioral Health Professional with CAA, and in that time, she has made a lasting impact on countless children and families. Her work is a powerful reminder that meaningful change doesn’t always come from grand gestures; it comes from showing up, staying consistent, and leading with compassion day after day.
Emma brings a rare blend of creativity, warmth, and reliability to her role. She meets children where they are, supports families as true partners in treatment, and models what it looks like to do this work with heart and intention. Families consistently feel heard, involved, and supported because Emma takes the time to build trust and connection. Her presence helps turn challenges into opportunities for growth and frustration into forward movement.
Equally important is the way Emma shows up for her teammates. The work our BHPs do can be demanding, emotional, and at times exhausting, but Emma is often the steady presence offering encouragement, a listening ear, or a kind word when it’s needed most. She leads by example, reminding us all of the power of teamwork, empathy, and mutual support.
Emma, your dedication embodies the spirit of BELIEVE, believing in our clients, in your team, and in the meaningful difference we can make together. Thank you for all that you do, and congratulations on being CAA’s January 2026 BELIEVE recipient. We are better because of you.

It takes a lot of volunteers to make the Cinderella Project of Maine possible. It won't be possible without the heavy lifters! These volunteers help get things set up and taken down without anyone even knowing they were there! Not only is Central Aroostook Association pleased to host the event, we are even more grateful for the Northern Maine Pioneers Junior Hockey that is doing the heavy lifting! Make plans to stop by Saturday to see their hard work complete! Want to help with clean up and take down? Reach out, we've got community service hours available.
