We Want You! Real people with real experiences, residents of LTC and Assisted Living Facilities to speak to us at these Forums 'Stand With Me'. We want the voices of the residents to be uplifted and heard by the communities, so come and share your stories!

Exciting news for Johnson County and the Big Sandy region!

PAINTSVILLE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT has been awarded more than $2.6 million through the Abandoned Mine Land Economic Revitalization (AMLER) Program to build a state-of-the-art STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Center. This investment will give students cutting-edge resources, collaborative spaces, and hands-on learning opportunities that prepare them for the future while strengthening our communities.

Big Sandy Area Development District Inc. is proud to support this project and celebrate the leadership that made it possible. A special congratulations to Superintendent Bryan Auxier and Paintsville Independent Schools, and a thank you to Congressman Hal Rogers, Governor Andy Beshear, and the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet for prioritizing investments that transform coal-impacted communities.

We’re especially proud of our own Eric Ratliff, a PHS alumnus, who prepared and submitted the grant application on behalf of the school. His hard work exemplifies BSADD’s commitment to helping local schools, governments, and organizations secure the resources they need to thrive.
This project is more than a building—it’s a launchpad for student success, innovation, and regional progress!

The Big Sandy Long Term Care Ombudsman Program held its annual Volunteer Appreciation & Training Luncheon on June 16th at BSADD. We are very thankful and appreciate all our volunteers, certified Ombudsmen, & advisory council members. The program is also seeking volunteers.
