👁️January is Glaucoma Awareness Month 👁️

Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of vision loss—and often has no early warning signs. That’s why it’s sometimes called the “silent thief of sight.” Vision loss from glaucoma is permanent, but early detection and treatment can help protect your vision.

👉🏽Regular comprehensive eye exams are the best defense, especially if you:

🔷Are over age 60
🔷Have a family history of glaucoma
🔷Have diabetes or high blood pressure
🔷Are African American, Hispanic, or Asian

At our practice, we’re committed to educating and caring for our patients through early diagnosis and personalized treatment plans. This Glaucoma Awareness Month, we encourage you to prioritize your eye health and schedule your routine eye exam. 👨🏽‍⚕️👩🏻‍⚕️👀

Protect your sight—because once it’s gone, it can’t be restored. 💚

Our Story

Our practice was founded over 30 years ago by Michael J. Dodd, M.D. Dr. Dodd opened an ophthalmology practice in the then rural community of Prince Frederick, Maryland. Several years later, Dr. Dodd was joined by Kathleen H. Miller, M.D. and the second office in Upper Marlboro was opened. In the early 1990's an office in Annapolis was opened. Over the past decade, Jason Wanner, D.O. and Marc Berry M.D. have joined the practice, as well as an optometrist, Scott Burge, O.D. For more information on our providers, please visit our website www.marylandeyeassociates.com. In the summer of 2000, the main office of the practice in Prince Frederick moved into a new facility designed to expand the technologic and physical capabilities of the practice. The Surgery Center was founded at that time and located adjacent to the practice. The excellent surgical facilities compliment and enhance the services provided by the practice.
