Below is a sample public comment you may copy, paste, and adapt.

“I am a midwifery client here in Texas, and writing in regard to the proposed revisions to the Informed Choice and Disclosure Statement for Licensed Midwives as discussed in the Midwives Advisory Board meeting on Jan 13th (Agenda Item G).

I support transparency and informed choice in maternity care.

I am concerned about the proposed requirement for midwives to explain personal financial responsibility related to malpractice. As a consumer, this information would not help me make safer or better decisions about my care. Instead, it could create unnecessary fear or confusion at an already vulnerable time in pregnancy.

The proposed revisions significantly expand the Informed Choice and Disclosure Statement in ways that go beyond what is mandated in statute. I respectfully ask that this form remain focused on health, safety, and care options rather than on my provider’s personal financial situation.”

You only need to submit one comment, but more are always welcome.

Please share with your friends who use midwives!

Every comment matters. Every voice helps shape the future of midwifery in Texas. By speaking up now, we protect informed choice, preserve the integrity of the midwifery model of care and ensures that future policies truly serve families and midwives alike.

You aren’t doing this for a medal, a prize, or notoriety.

We see what you actually get, and it’s worth so much more. We hope you see that too.

Who else feels like winging it is a personality trait at this point? 🙋‍♀️

Whether it’s “cooking” dinner by seeing what’s left in the fridge or showing up to a workout hoping the instructor just tells us what to do, we’ve mastered the art of the pivot. But birth? Birth is the one thing you really don’t want to meet with a “we’ll see what happens” vibe.

While your body possesses a deep, ancient wisdom, your mind needs a roadmap. When we feel stuck or anxious because we don’t know what comes next, labor can actually slow down. Adrenaline is the enemy of oxytocin, friends.

That’s why preparation matters.

A great childbirth class and a dedicated doula are game changers. But it also starts with your provider. When you feel safe and supported, birth flows.

Stop winging the big stuff. Let’s get you prepared, confident, and ready to meet your baby. 🤍

How else do you expect to have enough energy to get through an unmedicated labor?!

You can have your snacks (and eat them too)☺️

The whole “home birth is risky” talk is something we have heard a million times, but the actual data tells a completely different story.

When you look at the research for low risk women it turns out that planning a hospital birth often leads to more interventions and complications without actually improving safety for mom or baby. In fact large scale studies show that planning a hospital birth can significantly increase your chances of things like serious bleeding or infection and it makes you more likely to end up with a c-section or an episiotomy.

The study (linked below) even points out that there is no evidence that hospital births are safer for low risk women. Instead we see that home birth drastically reduces the “cascade of interventions” while keeping outcomes just as safe.

Home birth isn’t a trend, but a research backed choice for anyone wanting a physiologic birth.

These aren’t just “opinions” to me. They are the pillars of how I show up for every family that invites me into their space. I stand on these hills so you don’t have to fight for them.

To the ones who make the 3 AM wake-up calls worth it💘

Usually, Valentines are for significant others, but ask any midwife and they’ll tell you: we’ve got a pretty special “relationship” with our clients.

We’ve seen you at your strongest, navigated the late-night texts together, and witnessed the literal magic you’re capable of. So, we made some cards just for you.

If we’ve had the honor of being your “Ride or Dilate” and you loved your experience, it would mean the world to us if you’d leave us a review!

It has one job, and it’s going to do it, whether you’re ready or not! 😅

Transition is the shortest part of labor, but it’s definitely the part where the “I’m done” thoughts take over. If you feel like this video, take note: it means your baby is almost in your arms. 🥰

You aren’t a student, and birth isn’t a final exam. But unfortunately society has conditioned us to believe that birth is a medical emergency waiting to happen. Or that it is a complex procedure we need to “master.”

Here’s the truth: You don’t need to be taught how to dilate. What you do need is:
• To understand the physiology of how your body works.
• To be in a space where you feel safe and unobserved.
• A team that supports you instead of managing your every move.

My role as a midwife isn’t to give you a play-by-play or tell you when to move. You already have that map inside you.

How would it feel to be supported instead of managed?

It’s a common misconception that home birth is the “trendy” choice. Or it’s women who are “anti-hospital. But in a recent study of US women, the number one reason families choose home birth is to avoid unnecessary interventions.

The study found that the top reasons women stay home are feeling safer, avoiding “routine” interventions that aren’t always necessary, and simply wanting to be in a familiar space where they are in control.

What was the one thing that made you feel most “safe” during your labor? Let’s chat in the comments. 👇
