It’s fall y’all! Fill your shopping cart with ingredients from my Fall for Flavor recipe guide, not this stuff…

I wish for a world where healthy, real food was on display in every spare inch of the store but unfortunately we’re given processed food that spike your blood sugar and make you feel NOT your best. But this is the work.

I hope you choose to thrive this season 🍁

5 Labs to optimize for your health
A lot of women come to me asking about running a DUTCH test—but before diving into specialty hormone testing, there are a handful of baseline labs (usually covered by insurance) that give us so much insight into hormone health and overall well-being.

Don’t get me wrong I love a DUTCH test but girl let’s set the foundation first!

Here’s the key: I’m talking about optimal ranges, not just “in range.” You can have labs that aren’t technically flagged as abnormal but still aren’t supporting you in feeling your best.

Here are my top 5:

Fasting Insulin
This number often creeps up years before fasting glucose or HbA1c shift. As hormones change with age, blood sugar balance gets trickier. ✅ Optimal: under 10

hs-CRP (High-Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein)
A marker of systemic inflammation. If it’s above 1, it can throw a wrench in your hormones, energy, and metabolism. ✅ Optimal: under 1

Ferritin
Your iron storage. Too low = fatigue, hair loss, heavy periods; too high = oxidative stress. ✅ Optimal: 70-100

Free T3
This is your active thyroid hormone—critical for metabolism, energy, and menstrual cycle regularity. Don’t just check TSH! ✅ Optimal: 3-4 pg/mL

Vitamin D
Vitamin D supports hormone signaling and immune balance. ✅ Optimal: 60-80

Bonus: Liver Enzymes (ALT/AST)
Your liver (via ALT/AST) is what clears and metabolizes hormones—if it’s sluggish, hormone balance will be too.

Before diving into advanced testing, check these foundations. Most of us will find room for improvement here and optimizing them can make a huge difference in how we feel.

I honestly didn’t like pancakes until I started making them using these 4 steps. 🥞

Step 2 is my favorite because I love trying different recipes and always having a new experience with flours. ☺️

Most store-bought flour is stripped of nutrients—but I’m all about packing in as much nourishment as possible. I love almond flour, and lately we’ve been getting our grain flour from Janie’s Mill—organic, heritage, and locally grown here in Illinois. It’s rich in nutrients and the flavor is unmatched compared to anything you’ll find on the shelf.

3 is a close second because I’m obsessed with adding ginger and cinnamon into everything. These spices and berries are rich in polyphenols that our bodies can’t get enough of 💛

Which one are you going to try first?!

3 things you’ll regret:

Your mood swings will ease and you’ll actually want to follow through on the plans you made. 😅 We look at blood sugar balance, nutrient deficiencies, sleep, boundaries etc to see where your nervous system needs support.

Your scale will miss you! There’s a time and place for a scale but we can also function intuitively, energized and aligned to feel our best without having to check in or measure our success based on this number.

You’ll have to finish your to do list. Yes all 3 of them (phone, notepad, computer) 🤣 Fatigue is probably the biggest thing that gets in our way of us feeling like ourselves. We look at the root cause of what’s driving fatigue and use food, lifestyle and some supplements to get your metabolic health back to balance.

And here’s what you won’t regret:
Feeling your BEST.
Loving your body again.
Finally understanding what it needs and not comparing that to anyone else 🫶🏻

Happy Sunday after the 4th of July! 🌭🥤

We often feel the guilt of overindulging on holiday weekends and it can completely derail our lives. 🤪

Let me share with you why it happens, because knowledge & reflection are empowerment. 🙌🏼 😊

1. You’re more stimulated: Social events (noise, new people, excitement) can increase cortisol which makes your body crave quick energy—sugar, carbs, salty snacks… and it distracts you from your normal hunger/fullness cues.

2. You’re surrounded by highly palatable food. These foods are literally designed by scientists to override fullness cues. They light up your brain’s reward center and keep you wanting more.

3. You might be underfed throughout the day. Many of us eat less before a social event (intentionally or not) to “save room” or compensate in advance. We bypass hunger cues and ignore our fullness cues when food finally shows up.

4. You have “food rules” that your brain just cannot wait to break! It’s human nature to want what we can’t have. This leads to stronger cravings, even if you’re not physiologically hungry.

Social environments can hijack your normal hunger and fullness rhythms. It’s not a YOU problem, our world is just very overstimulating. 🫶🏻
