๐Ÿซ€ When it comes to cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), tempo matters.

The American Red Cross recommends a compression rate of 100 - 120 beats per minute, about the rhythm of songs like โ€œStayinโ€™ Alive.โ€

Knowing the right beat could make a difference in an emergency.

โœจ Just hit your goal weight and want to keep it without the dreaded rebound? A registered dietitian with OSF HealthCare breaks down reverse dieting โ€“ a savvy way to โ€œteachโ€ your metabolism what normal life looks like again after a calorie-cutting phase.

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ What it is: After losing weight on a calorie deficit, reverse dieting helps you slowly add calories back โ€“ usually just 50โ€“100 extra a day โ€“ until your body settles into a new maintenance zone.
โš–๏ธ Why it matters: Instead of jumping back into old eating habits and unintentionally gaining weight, this method helps you find your โ€œsweet spotโ€ where youโ€™re not losing or gaining.
๐Ÿฅš How it looks in real life: Think simple swaps โ€“ maybe an extra hard-boiled egg or a handful of carrots to boost your intake without a sugar hangover.
๐Ÿค Pro tip: Reverse dieting is personal and takes patience โ€“ and a dietitian can be a great partner in the journey.

Ready to train your metabolism instead of fighting it? ๐Ÿ’ช Read more and get the full breakdown here:

Reverse dieting is a process to help achieve and maintain a goal weight. The idea is to add calories to your diet a little at a time after losing weight. Read more.

Our Story

Perry Memorial Hospital is a critical access hospital with over 100 physicians on staff, working to provide quality care that meets the needs of the surrounding rural community.

HISTORY - Prior to the existence of Perry Memorial Hospital, most healthcare occurred in patientโ€™s homes, with little opportunity for nursing care or medical treatment and supervision. Physicians would often travel great distances to treat patients, and sometimes had to convert rooms in their own homes to house acutely ill patients. As of 1893, the Bureau County Medical Society counted 40 physicians as members.

In 1903, two brothers--Dr. L.D. Hickman and Dr. H.V. Hickman--purchased a home on Park Avenue East and used it to open the Princeton Hospital. The hospital focused on x-ray and surgery services using state-of-the-art equipment. However, due to personal illness, financial problems, and lack of support, the brothers closed the hospital after only one year.

In 1905, the hospital was purchased and operated by Dr. Blackburn as a private hospital. He ran the hospital successfully for three years before it closed again. Miss Cox purchased the hospital from Dr. Blackburn, and ran it for two more years until a smallpox epidemic broke out. Two patients died from the epidemic, and the hospital closed for the third and final time.
