We are often asked “When should I get my baby checked?”

And we always reply as soon as possible. Shoutout to those parents who stopped by the office on their way back from the hospital! 👏🏼💕

Your baby’s first year is the most neurologically active time of their entire life. Their brain is forming 1 million neural connections PER SECOND. Their nervous system is learning how to regulate everything: digestion, sleep, immune response, movement, emotional regulation.

But birth (even the “easy” ones) is incredibly physical. The pressure, pulling, twisting, and compression that happens during delivery can create tension and imbalances in your baby’s delicate spine, especially in the upper neck.

This interference can show up as:
-Colic and excessive crying
-Difficulty latching or nursing on one side
-Torticollis (head tilting/preference)
-Reflux and digestive issues
-Sleep struggles
-Developmental delays in rolling, crawling, sitting

Your frozen shoulder isn’t actually a shoulder problem.

You’ve been told it’s “adhesive capsulitis”—inflammation and adhesions in the shoulder capsule causing progressive stiffness and pain.
The treatment plan? Physical therapy, maybe a cortisone shot, and “just wait 1-2 years for it to resolve.”

Your shoulder doesn’t just decide to lock up randomly. It’s a protective response to something deeper—and that something is your nervous system.

And it might just be from your neck...
Your shoulder is controlled by nerves exiting your cervical spine at C4-C7. When there are subluxations (misalignments) in your neck, those nerves experience interference. Your shoulder muscles start guarding, spasming, and compensating. Inflammation sets in and movement becomes restricted. Your shoulder “freezes” to protect the compromised nerve supply.

Your vagus nerve is a cranial nerve that regulates your body’s inflammatory response. When upper cervical subluxations (C1/C2) disrupt vagus nerve function, inflammation goes unchecked. The tissue around your shoulder becomes chronically inflamed, adhesions form, and the capsule literally freezes.
It’s not just mechanical—it’s neurological inflammation.

When your neck is imbalanced, your entire body compensates: shoulder blade position shifts, rib cage rotates, thoracic spine adjusts, pelvis tilts. The frozen shoulder is the END RESULT of a full-body compensation pattern that started in your spine—possibly years ago.

Physical therapy on the shoulder alone won’t fix a cervical spine problem. Cortisone shots won’t restore vagus nerve function. Waiting 1-2 years just allows the compensation patterns to become more ingrained.

Here are 5 ways to care for your nervous system this month (and every month):
1. Get Adjusted Regularly
Remove the interference. Restore clear communication between your brain and body. Give yourself the foundation for optimal function.

2. Prioritize Deep Sleep
Your nervous system repairs and resets during sleep. 7-9 hours isn’t indulgent, it’s essential for hormone regulation, mood stability, and healing.

3. Practice Breathwork
Deep, intentional breathing activates your vagus nerve and shifts you out of fight-or-flight mode. Try 4-7-8 breathing: inhale for 4, hold for 7, exhale for 8. Instant reset.

4. Move Your Body Gently
Walking, stretching, yoga—gentle movement signals SAFETY to your nervous system. You don’t need intense workouts. You need joyful, consistent movement.

5. Connect with Safe People
Your nervous system co-regulates with others. Hugs, laughter, deep conversations, these tell your brain you’re safe. You’re wired for connection. Let yourself receive it.

Brain fog? It’s not just you. It’s your nervous system. 🧠

If you’re walking into rooms and forgetting why, struggling to focus on simple tasks, feeling like you’re thinking through mud, constantly losing your train of thought, or just feeling mentally “off” - that’s not normal aging or just being busy.

That’s brain fog. And it’s a nervous system issue.

Mental clarity is a byproduct of nervous system health. When your nervous system is dysregulated, your brain doesn’t get the clear signals it needs to function optimally.

Did you know that the first bone in your neck (C1) sits right where your brainstem is?
Your vagus nerve runs past it.

When C1 is imbalanced - from stress, poor posture, old injuries, or just life - it creates interference in the signals between your brain and body.

That interference shows up as brain fog, difficulty concentrating, memory issues, slow processing, and mental fatigue.
