This morning I ran outside to my car because I realized I forgot to bring in the kids “big” Easter gifts in from my trunk. I was trying to be quick so the kids wouldn’t notice or catch me…but I forgot my keys so I had to wait for my car to unlock from my phone. In the few seconds I was waiting, my eyes saw a tree move and when I looked, I saw a squirrel. And then I noticed that I was hearing at least two different bird songs. I felt like it was the universe reminding me to slow down. Everything doesn’t have to be a rush and when we rush we trigger our fight or flight response. Instead, moving slowly, waiting for my car to unlock and just enjoying the sounds, sights, and smells around me- I felt calm. Reminder to slow down.

The annual NJ Promise walk for Preeclampsia that I run in memory of my daughter Charlotte will take place on 9/6/25 this year at the Turtle Back Zoo.
