Sometimes our plans, minds, bodies and hearts are tightly wound. Other times, they feel totally unraveled: messy, confusing and hard to find one end from the other. With me as your doula, my goal is to support you and help you navigate. Encouraging, affirming, educated, and intuition are some of the things I bring to each birthing person (and their partner/family if involved).

I love being a birth doula, it’s one of my happy places no matter what else I’m going through! Meet Leland, who was born after a long day of labor with his strong mama. 41 weeks and 4 (11 days past the guess date) is no small feat for anyone. This beautiful boy was born at 10 pounds, 3.5 ounces and 20” long, via an unmediated vaginal birth. I couldn’t be prouder of my client or more honored to help welcome this sweet boy to the earth.

Sometimes preterm labor is a warning that you’re doing too much or your body is overwhelmed with a significant, sudden change in: physical activity, stress levels, lack of sleep or other factors. Sometimes it’s something else all together. In this instance, I’m really grateful it was the former & with tons of rest and sleep, this mama’s preterm labor slowed and then stopped on its own through the night at the hospital with me and her husband. While he’s was able to sleep some as things slowed, she and I got some sweet time laboring and rest time too. Looking forward to supporting this family again much closer to baby’s guess date later in April. My thoughts go out to anyone who has experienced preterm labor, given birth to preemies and micro-preemies, some of whom are my dearest friends. Having support matters!

The loving support of her husband was both visible and tangible, as I arrived to support laboring at home until it was time to go to the birth center on Monday evening. Fresh flowers on the table, just home from dinner out, gentle glances and sweet whispers just for her ears, tenderness abounded. I’m so honored to have been there to support and encourage them both & to help them welcome baby boy early yesterday morning. Mama was able to get to 8-9 cm dilated laboring at home with my support added to the mix. She did such an amazing job and I love this work so much.

I'm so excited for my Doula Internship at Health Foundations Birth Center + Women's Health Clinic! It's a beautiful place, with wonderful people and philosophies.
I'm honored to get some of my experiences with this amazing place. I've got two of my three births scheduled to help me get my DONA Doula Certification. Gratitude Thursday!

Sending encouragement to rest and hydrate extra this weekend, if you’re expecting baby to arrive soon. The full moon on Monday night may bring on labor. Stay well & blessings!

I believe your voice deserves to be heard, your choices be informed and honored, your support be calming, creative, consistent and loving. As a doula, that is at the heart of who I am in your labor and delivery, no matter the setting or the number of times you have given birth before.
