At Hallmark House, we see every day how powerful music can be.
For Ms. Joan, hearing “Somewhere My Love” by Andy Williams instantly brings her back to her wedding day; dancing, laughing, and celebrating surrounded by family and friends.
Music doesn’t just play in the background of our lives… it marks the moments that matter most.
What song holds special meaning for you? Was there a wedding song, first dance, or favorite tune that takes you right back?

Dementia can change personality. It can bring anger, suspicion, harsh words. Sometimes adult children feel something they’re ashamed to admit:
“I miss who they used to be.”
That doesn’t make you a bad daughter or son.
It makes you human. Grief can begin long before goodbye.
If this is something you’re quietly struggling with, we see you. At Hallmark House, we talk about these things openly with compassion, not judgment. If you ever need guidance or just a listening ear, our door is open.

Ms. Margaret was sharing her memories of growing up and how every Sunday evening meant one thing: Roast and rice pudding.
She remembers the smell filling the house, everyone gathered around the table, and how Sunday meals felt a little more special than the rest of the week.
It’s amazing how certain foods can instantly take us back in time.
Now we’re curious…What did your family eat on Sunday evenings growing up?

Tell us in the comments we’d love to hear your memories.

One family member once whispered to me:
“Is it terrible that I feel… relieved?”
Relieved that someone else is managing medications.
Relieved that they’re finally sleeping through the night.
Relieved that they’re not carrying everything alone anymore.
No one talks about this part of caregiving.
Relief doesn’t mean you love them less.
It means you’ve been strong for a very long time.
If you’ve ever felt this but were afraid to admit it, you are not alone. If you need someone to talk to about what you’re carrying, come sit with us at Hallmark House. We’re here to walk this journey with you.

Employee of the Month – March

Congratulations, Ne’Ria!

We are beyond proud to announce Ne’Ria as Hallmark House’s Employee of the Month for March! Ne’Ria has been with us for almost a year now, and what an incredible year it has been. Within just her first two months at Hallmark House, she earned Employee of the Month and now, as she approaches her one-year anniversary, she has earned the title once again. That alone speaks volumes about her consistency, growth, and dedication.
Over this past year, we have witnessed so much growth in Ne’Ria. The love and compassion she pours into our residents is undeniable. She doesn’t just do her job she truly cares. She understands that the work we do is not only for the residents, but also for the families who trust and depend on us every single day.
Ne’Ria continuously shows a desire to improve, to learn, and to educate herself in everything she does. She is reliable, dependable, and attentive to detail. She takes initiative without being asked and steps into leadership naturally and confidently. Her heart for service and her commitment to excellence do not go unnoticed.
Ne’Ria , thank you for the care you provide, the leadership you show, and the love you give so freely. We are so proud of you and incredibly grateful to have you as part of our Hallmark House family.
Congratulations!

It is all about knowing the person. Before the diagnosis. Before the memory changes. Before the hard days.

Because your mom isn’t “a resident”.
Because your dad isn't “a condition”.

They are a lifetime of stories, personalities , strengths and quirks. So tell us in the comments, three words that describe your loved one.

We’d love to celebrate who they are and always will be.
