Ni**le shields can be a helpful temporary tool for latch challenges or ni**le pain, but they aren’t meant for long-term use. They should always be used under the guidance of a lactation consultant to support safe, effective feeding. If you’re using a ni**le shield or wondering if you need one, scheduling a lactation visit can make all the difference. 🤍🍼

The first sips of milk (foremilk) are more watery and help quench your baby’s thirst, while the creamier milk that comes later (hindmilk) is higher in fat and helps keep them full and satisfied. This natural balance ensures your baby gets both hydration and nutrition in every feeding. Your body really knows what your little one needs!

🍼 Ever feel like your pump suddenly forgot how to pump? 😩
Before you panic about your supply, check those parts!

Did you know it is recommended breast pump valves, membranes, tubing, and flanges are routinely replaced for optimal pumping results? Check with your manufacture on how often to change parts for your specific pump.

Worn-out parts = weak suction. Save your sanity (and your milk!) and replace those pump parts 💪✨

My ‘Why’

Anyone close to me knows that my family is my world. My husband and I are blessed with three beautiful girls, and when I married my husband, I gained an amazing daughter. I could not have hand picked a better “Big Sis” and role model for our two youngest daughters. As a family, we enjoy traveling and attending just about any University of Louisville sporting event we can. If we’re not on a vacation to Disney World, you can usually find us somewhere on the beach!

My passion is pediatrics. Immediately after graduating from the University of Louisville with my MSN, I began working in a pediatric office. It didn’t take me long to realize just how many new mothers and newborn babies needed lactation support. After struggling to nurse two babies myself, and seeing first hand so many families struggling to find resources, I realized I needed to further my training and skills in lactation.

I’ve always known pediatrics would be my calling, but I had no idea when I started this journey in healthcare that I could feel so passionately about those tiny newborn babies and lactation.

I became a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) and with experience, training, and a lot of hard work, later became an IBCLC. By combining my experiences as an APRN, utilizing many of the guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and my continued growth as an IBCLC, I started to see wonderful results with families struggling with lactation.
